New board

Can we still set up new boards here? If so, how is it done? In apparent absence of the obvious, I perused the various fora & looked like we don't have this, but....
I saw a post, 'What Have I Got Here?' and was thinking that would be an excellent board/'room'/'branch' or whatever designation we use, for those who are looking for assistance in identifying pens they have acquired or info about them. I have need for such myself, as it were. 1st & foremost tho, of course, a consensus of agreement! Thoughts?

Couldn't we at least start a thread in, I guess, the 'Pens In General' (if you know of a more appropriate spot please share) forum, & make it known [?1st post¿ ] that's what it's for....bumping to the top as needed? Would something like that work, or at least serve the purpose, ya think?

The problem is your use of “we”.

Your proposal is essentially a one-person effort and responsibility, at least to start. Are you willing to take it on? Are you willing to make it a priority in your life? How much time can you devote to this? When your pen forum is established, you can authorize others to be moderators, but be prepared to deal with both good and bad choices.

If you look at this and other dying or dead pen forums (Pentrace, FPBoard, FPGeeks, Zosslist, FPNClassifieds & etc.), there is a lesson to be learned from their owners’ pride and neglect: when the owner doesn’t feel like running a forum anymore, he or she should let go and be willing to surrender ownership to someone who will.

A: Is that the one you mean by "the general forum", or is there another not within my knowledge nor found (and I looked!)? If not, that's exactly what I suggested! Then there's the potential for the snark factor, which, all things considered, might be your intent. And it appears you aren't alone.

B: @Fred: I wasn't talking about starting up a whole new 'pen' site, merely a place on this one. Since we can't set up new boards here, I was trying to suggest a workaround that would serve the purpose -here- via a new thread, and I was asking for the best place to put it. And ftr, I have both owned an active BBS, on astronomy, & moderated a few others - astro, shooting, & a newspaper group come to mind, so I do have an idea of what it takes. And again, that's not what I was suggesting.

C: Purpose: In a previous posting, more than one person suggested they enjoyed seeing all the misc. pens that come up from (what I think of as) the 'Pushers' who somewhat abuse it (again my opinion) with their avalanche of ads, quickly pushing the more suited clientele's WTS ads off the prime 1st page. ie a tolerance, borne of the entertainment provided therein.
The 'mystery pens' people come up with would, I think, be of more than general interest both in that regard, plus giving all users a 'place' where what would be an interesting litany of presentations could be knowingly or habitually found. Plus, we (to my knowledge] have no specific 'area' where users [& visitors -- think 'recruits'!] can come to ask for help in that regard, & if our many highly knowledgable pensters know it's there, they can make that a regular 'stop' on their daily visits....and we all might learn a thing or two!

I'll start a 'What have I Got Here' thread, & we can see how it goes. Pens In General seem like the right place?

Everyone who has something and they don't know what it is will just start their own thread and ask like they always have done since FPGeeks started.

The thread is there. It’s hard to find mixed in with the dominant for sale posts here.

I would not be surprised if many members don't even read this thread about it as all this title says is "New board." it actually looks like just another spam post.

What on earth is a "New board" anyway? Surfboard? Blackboard? White board? Cardboard? Headboard? No-one knows. To pique interest try starting with a good title....

Check out some of the for sale posts if you can find them. Look for ones that have been bumped a few times.
