Re: MB 146 1970's, fake one?
Sadly can't help without pictures but a 1970's Montblanc clip band would definitely never have a serial number. Doesn't have to have W.Germany either. It just needs to have a correct Montblanc clip. First thing is to see if it has a regular Montblanc internal piston mechanism with black plastic screw threads. I have no idea if a 1970's 146 should have a screw inside the cap to hold the snowflake on. If you couldn't see a screw (and you usually can't - I can't see any of mine) what was holding it on or was it not present? if it's a Montblanc piston mechanism then it's unlikely to be fake. You can always check a nib with a magnet to see if it's gold or not.

Re: MB 146 1970's, fake one?
Thanks Chrissy.
I know it has a piston mechanism, but is the plastic thread an important sign? Am I able to see just by turning the piston knob or do I jave to disassemble the whole mechanism?
About the snowflake, probably I couldn't just see the screw shape-maybe it was covered with something.
I guess the bottom line is the magnet test which will tell a lot, right?
I'll try to meet the guy once again and provide some photos.
Thanks for your hints anyway.

I believe that during the 1970's the piston threads were black plastic. However, any service might mean that it had a replacement piston and that means it could have brass threads. You would see them just by turning the piston knob as normal. You should always ensure that the piston knob turns on any Montblanc piston pen otherwise it won't work.
If it has a working Montblanc piston then you're on safe ground. You should also be able to see the window in the barrel.
The magnet test would tell you if the nib was gold or steel. It's a good pointer that it has the correct monotone gold nib as that shows a 70's pen.

Thank you so much
I can go into more details next time I see the pen.
