Default EFNIR: Pilot Mixable Colour Violet

Extra Fine Nib Ink Review: Pilot Mixable Colour Violet

This is review #287 in my series. Here's the YouTube video:

Post-recording notes: As mentioned with previous inks in this series, I'm taking them out of order because they're starting to evaporate out of the cartridge. I added a few drops of distilled water to top the cartridge off. I don't believe this has had a significant impact on color or performance.

The scanner hates this color: renders it too blue and far too dull. In reality, it's a little to the red side and very vibrant. My other purples were too blue, too red, or too dull in comparison. IMO, this is close to the vibrancy of R&K Solferino, just with more blue.

Apparently I lied in the video - there is a bit of sheen on the review page, even after drying. The microscope slide was boring as could be. Cleaning was easy with plain water - and lots of hot pink going down the sink. It is very saturated, so it may take a few extra flushes, but nothing more than water needed.

Zoomed in photo (Color is very close to what my eyes see.)

    Screenshot (A bit too red.)

Scan of Completed Review (Close, may also be too red.)

Absorbent Paper Close-up (top is puzzle paper like thick newsprint, bottom is old 20lb copy paper) (These look very close to what my eyes see.)

Line width (The "I" in "Ink:". Magnification is 100x. The grid is 100x100Ám. The scale is 360Ám, with twelve divisions of 30Ám each. The line width for this ink is roughly 351Ám. With 287 inks measured, the average line width is 297Ám.) (You can see some sheen. Under the microscope, the ink looked hot pink more than purple, but to the eye, red-leaning purple.)

You're very welcome! It's a wonder I ever know what day it is - I actually have calendars in a few places around the house and mark off the days just so I can keep track of what day it is.

Why the moaning and groaning when there is TREASURE? 😹

Of the comparison inks, I have the Pelikan but can't recall the last time it was loaded in anything.

But I had this Pilot ink for a time, in another Pilot (78G, double B nib). I liked its color and performance.

Alas! I cannot see the micro! Or was this ink invisible under scrutiny?

On holiday weekends I can barely remember my name, but I have managed to remember this is Tuesday. Thanks once again, Liz, for the review and serial. Love 'em both! 💝

    And go Ethhri!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

And my other blog is a tumblr!

The color caught me from the first stroke - it's a really good one.

    Thanks for another fantastic review
I finally can enjoy the colour on the big screen. The long drying time makes it perfect candidate for @Sailor
The quote is is intriguing. What is home? A treasure? Or does it indirectly mean that that Quin is going home, like Dorothy

Looking forward to many Tuesdays, following our intrepid heroes 🙏🙏🙏

I'll never tell. (Until next week, anyway...)
