    Default EFNIR: Sheaffer Skrip Green

Extra Fine Nib Ink Review: Sheaffer Skrip Green

This is review #294 in my series. Here's the YouTube video:

Post-recording notes: The repeated cries (high pitch squeaks) at various times throughout this video were Klaw voicing his unhappiness at being locked out of the room.

This is not green. They can call it that, but it isn't. It's more turquoise or marine blue or something. The cartridge is green green (see the video), but what's in it is not. NOTE: The video shows the ink looking much too blue. The ink color is actually somewhat similar to the color of Sheaffer Skrip Blue-Black cartridges (not the ink, the cartridge itself)...

    Cleaning was quick and easy.

"I really can't recomment..." should be "...recommend...". :/

Zoomed in photo (Very close to what my eyes see.)

    Screenshot (Too blue.)

Scan of Completed Review (Pretty close.)

Absorbent Paper Close-up (top is puzzle paper like thick newsprint, bottom is old 20lb copy paper) (Very close.)

Line width (The "I" in "Ink:". Magnification is 100x. The grid is 100x100µm. The scale is 330µm, with eleven divisions of 30µm each. The line width for this ink is roughly 297µm. With 294 inks measured, the average line width is 297µm.)

Microscope image (Color is all wrong. The main color is almost exactly the color of the ink, but I couldn't adjust it. The green isn't as far off from what my eyes see.)

    Doodle

It is not green. It is not green! Green ja nai!

Or so I keep repeating, as I've just loaded this in a TWSBI Eco. It is a pretty, summery color, but Skrip Green isn't green. Nevertheless, I use it often, and concocted a lookalike ('Sailor's InkFisher') from various dregs, for when I run out of Skrip Not Green.

    Holy bluey/greenish Lava Lamp, Batman!

Thanks for this review and story, Liz. I also love the zentangle. The review was timely!

No need to repeat - it's not green! Clever you, making a lookalike! I'm still hoping whoever owns Sheaffer starts making not-green green again.

It does look rather lava-lamp-ish, doesn't it?

Thanks for such a refreshing review on such a hot and humid day where the cat is the only one enjoying lazing outside

I especially loved your doodle. It inspired me to be creative:

You're very welcome! My kitties are required to stay indoors, but Smoke is determined to smash through a window. :SMH: For some reason, the birds keep trying to land on the tiny lip of the window frame, and when they do, if Smoke sees it, he slams himself right into the window...

Nothing is more tempting for a bird to tempt a cat behind the glass window.
I've seen chickadees taunting our cat under the bird feed, blowing raspberries

I've heard of magpies doing that, but never the little birds. They always scatter when Smoke slams into the window, but quickly return (to the feeder / waterer).

Interesting, seems the thicker you lay it on the more it trends toward a green. The microscope shot would suggest they need to add more of the green element. Also, I wonder about quality control in production.

Once watched a utube video of a magpie teasing and tormenting a cat outside. The frustrated cat, after about five minutes of non-stop harassment, finally reached up and snatched the bird out of the sky. You don't want to play around with cats!!

Green seems a good choice for a mid-summer review. Thanks.

Thanks! Zentangle is actually a trademark - their "advertising" (or whatever one calls it) is what got me started making such doodles. I call them "structured doodles", just to avoid any issues with their trademarks - for a while, they seemed rather militant about how people used their name, but they seem to have calmed down a little....

Skrip green used to be very green (1970s), I used several of those cartridges in school.
This is a completely different color
