Montblanc "Meisterstruck" No. 146 - purchased 1987 - New/Unused

I bought this pen from original buyer who told me he purchased the pen "from an official Mont Blanc showroom in Germany during a visit to Europe in the summer of 1987," as stated in an email. The pen was a gift that was never delivered to the intended person. It is new, never inked. A rarity given the age.

It has a Medium 14K gold nib. Uppermost ring is engraved "Germany" and small label on barrel states "W. Germany" confirming it pre-dates 1990.

Asking $550. Shipping included to CONUS. Paypal Okay.

I have extensive feedback on eBay (over 350 under mscott), on multiple vintage car forums, US Audio Mart, and others. I understand the the concern over scammers but that is not me. I did a high value deal with Pendel last year on this forum and have never scammed anyone. That said if you want to ban me, so be it.

I made a mistake in my listing regarding the decade. I was given the set in high school. I mis-typed. You think I'm scamming over a $30 listing. Okay. Believe what you must.

The problem, not your fault, is that this board is flooded with spam and scams. We're at best skeptical as a result, especially with a low post count. We don't know you. You may very well be honest and all that, but we have no way to know that, especially with the history of the last couple of years - and a mostly absent owner/admin and no moderators. One way to reassure folks is to take a picture with the current date, and maybe time on a card with the pen to show that you in fact have/own the pen, and aren't using someone else's picture(s).

Okay I'll take your word for it & thanks for coming back with an explanation. But afa value, in another Classifieds in another hobby (RC planes) I've seen an $80 LiPo battery get sold for $30....to well over 50 people. Guess what never showed up & guess who disappeared.
Just sayin'...

I didn't say ou were a scammer but that there are many on here, and I don't think anyone else thinks you're a scammer either.

However, selling on eBay isn't the same as selling on here. On ebay buyers get full protection and you can't request PayPal F&F payment on there can you? Buyers on here can only get protection for their purchases from their payment method and that is usually PayPal. It has to be a Goods & Services payment for them to receive that. Or perhaps they can go to ebay and buy your items there? Maybe you should include the item number as an option.

I have only listed the pens I have for sale here, not on eBay. I'll abide by rules on this forum (which I mistakenly overlooked) and see how it goes. Thanks for your post.

@mscott842: Why don't you try interacting with forum members in areas other than sales? Try posting in threads about pens, inks, all sorts of stuff. You'll see that there are quite a few subforums here. Try starting a thread or two, maybe. Talk to people, make some friends. (Avoid the Lounge, especially the political area, unless you want to make enemies!) Many forum members end up exchanging personal letters, becoming penpals, and then sometimes some of them even get the chance to meet in person at pen shows, and that sort of thing. It's a community, and the sales subform is meant for members of the community to exchange /buy/sell pens with each other. When someone comes in and starts selling stuff without establishing any kind of a relationship with anybody on the forum, that's really not regarded very favorably. It tends to rub people the wrong way.

I'm find myself having to exit the hobby with regard to the collection of high end pens for a number of reasons. I don't feel it's genuine to start interacting with devoted pen enthusiasts when I'm having to move on from a hobby I enjoyed for a number of years. My intention was to offer some nice items at a reasonable price, be open to offers and expose the pens here before listing elsewhere. Didn't expect my behavior to be offensive and unwelcome.

I think the honest mistake the OP made was to believe this fpgeeks selling section is like eBay, etsy, Mercari, Offerup, Facebook marketplace. This place is more like a community of pen lovers, who are fortunate to have a selling section.
