Default Uni Kuru Toga Dive Mechanical Pencil

I hate to bust on one of my favorite MP manufacturers, but was disappointed.

IMOP...........of using this MP for 2 weeks it is not automatic as described and for all the money is just all plastic. Maybe used for Japanese or Chinese writing, but not Western style characters. When writing at least English whether block or cursive one does not lift the tip off the paper as much as Asian writing to "trigger" the lead to automatically dispel, where it then just becomes a typical MP where one needs to manually extend the lead when needed.

I read using regular 2H lead works better, however what if one prefers 2B or even softer lead (as myself)-- the result is you will need to manually expel as well. Personally 2H writes to light for my preference. Still a nicely engineered MP, I like the balance, however would have preferred to see some kind of "metal" vs all plastic for $70.00+. R/R the cap where the lead will automatically extend to setting is kool, but not $70.00 plus kool............

    Not worth the $$$ IMOP.
Buy a regular Uni Kuro Toga MP and save yourself some money- they are still my favorite MP:>)

I'm right there with you. .9 lead, aluminum body and they might get me to get another one.

I had been using the classic Kuru Toga model up until two weeks ago. The lead twisting mechanism was not functioning as intended, I often had to twist the whole pencil in hand when the lead tip angled to one side. I got rid of it and switched to an Advanced model(0.7 2B lead), which has a faster mechanism and also a retractable lead sleeve. Now it functions OK but am wondering whether it's gonna last for years.

$70, despite its looks, sounds way too expensive for that kind of build quality.
