    Default DOGE

No, not the cryptocurrency. The "Department of Government Efficiency", headed by Elon and Vivek.

    Thoughts?

I can think of lots of inefficiency. This is one of my favorite examples:

Interesting to follow how the Department is established given the recent attitude of courts taking separation of powers seriously.

I think "Department" is a misnomer, and simply a term of convenience.

Forgot the quotation marks, but still will be interesting how the suggestions are implemented.

I mistook your post for the process of creating a department (act of congress) vs what actions it takes.

That does beg a question of the legal process of eliminating one.

The fight with the leviathan will be historic. Vivek has talked at length about how he would attack the issue, during and after his campaign. Elon has a track record of the importance of simplification and elimination, both from an engineering perspective (i.e.: comments on engineers wasting time refining something that doesn't need to be there) and his success keeping X afloat after firing ~80% of the staff.

I suspect there will be lots of citing Argentina as an example. One side will emphasize perceived successes, and the other side will emphasize perceived failures.

I have difficulty seeing either of them making anything in government more efficient. Elon has no experience running anything in government and Vivek is a clown.

Any sentence that begins with "Elon has no experience running anything..." is hardly credible.

I think the lack of government experience is a benefit rather than a detriment.

Ending with ad hominem toward Vivek prompts one to disregard the post in its entirety. The son of immigrants who was valedictorian of his jesuit high-school, became a venture capitalist and billionaire, and even went back to school to earn a law degree - just because - is hardly a "clown".

You cut off the end of what I said, read the bolded:

Elon has no experience running anything in government
I agree he has experience running somethings, just not anything in government.

Then I guess someone must have gone to the Republican debates in his place, cause the guy I saw debating under the name Vivek Ramaswamy seemed very much like a clown to me. I also thought he came off as a grinning jackass.

Indeed I did cut it off. But you'll notice the portion I have now bolded renders that objection irrelevant. Your sentence did in fact begin with the exact words I put in quotation marks.

I agree he has experience running somethings, just not anything in government.

Here you may see that I did address the portion of your sentence regarding government experience, and of course it is my opinion. You could discern that from my clearly stating that it is what I think. You will also note that I do not assign that opinion to you, causing one to wonder why you would restate something plainly obvious.

More ad hominem, particularly from one who has objected so vehemently to it in the past, remains unconvincing.
Are you done arguing irrelevant pedantic points?

I don't know why a sentence that begins with "Elon has no experience running anything..." is "hardly credible" when the sentence could continue with "...in government" when even you seemed to agree that he didn't have that experience.

I was just making clear it it was not an opinion that I shared.

I have objected to the ad hominems because they were directed at a member of the forum. Here I directed it at a politician(who probably will never read it). This is th political section of the forum, if I can't say what I honestly think about a politician, what is the point?

Two things I ran across today.

70,000 lines of tax code in 2010. I think we can all get on board with simplifying the tax code (which is really designed to provide a lot of workarounds for the wealthy).
