Gee, only 40% (8 of 20..although that will change slightly with this post) of the posts on page 1 are spammer and hacker bullsh*t. Who says we need an active site management?

Totally agree!
What I don't understand is why anyone clicks on the obvious BSpam!
If no one clicked on the posting it "might" lead to fewer posts.
Just MHO.
Thanks for posting this comment...
To my count, almost 1/2 of those spam posts have come from screen names which are known to be aliases of our resident malcontent David Jackson. AKA Empty_of_ Clouds, aka EoC
The problem is that even "active" site management will not control him because he posts using (illegally) his University's VPN.
For the others, I do not know how many, if any, are David. So, it is possible that active site management might reduce them.
David posts in spurts depending upon where he is in the cycle of his manic-depressive illness.
gloucesterman-18 is exactly right; the best strategy is to simply ignore them.

I think David was let go from the university. Probably has more time in his hand.
Assuming you are correct.........
I would never "celebrate" someone else's hardship or misfortune.
However, in this instance, he deserved to be fired if, indeed, this has happened.
His salary came from two sources. Research monies granted to the University to conduct research with the hope that some discovery of useful knowledge would result.
The second source was tuition dollars taken from students.
It was flat out immoral, unethical (and in most universities illegal) for him to have spent so much of his university work time trolling and spamming here. What he was doing was tantamount to stealing money.
Whether ultimately it had a negative impact upon his performance or he just got caught, we will never know.
But no one should shed a tear for him. His dismissal was well deserved.
I do understand that he has mental health issues but, I'm sorry, that it not a valid excuse for what he was doing in his workplace.
Significant increase in SPAM here.
It's really sad for all of us.
Wishing a Happy Thanksgiving

What angered this guy to begin with?
Same as with 90% of forum sites, the " BRB" or Back Room Boys who think they own/run/can call the shots as to who's part of the 'In Crowd' & who's not. Seems to be an eminent domain of the platform type. Blame the other half on those who encouraged "Just sit back & enjoy the shit show."
Belated happy Thanksgiving to all that celebrate it.

M: I came here for a good argument.
A: No you didn't; no, you came here for an argument.
M: An argument isn't just contradiction.
A: It can be.
M: No it can't. An argument is a connected series of statements intended to establish a proposition.
A: No it isn't.
M: Yes it is! It's not just contradiction.
A: Look, if I argue with you, I must take up a contrary position.
M: Yes, but that's not just saying 'No it isn't.'
A: Yes it is!
M: No it isn't!
I'm just going to put this out there?
I wonder if the owner is interested in divesting himself of FPGeeks? I would be open to a sale!
I suspect several members might be.
It wouldn't be inexpensive as vBulletin would need upgrading to the most recent version straight away and there would need to be some sort of a special fix.
From a "who is" look up it's registered to a hidden name in Rotterdam NL through esosoft.net. Didn't SBRE Brown live in the Netherlands?

The spam is getting ridiculous.
And are people so easy to fool that they even look at it?
YMMV but I hope not!

Yes. I would be interested in purchasing FPGs or going into a partnership.
This site could be a great site for those of us who love this "passion". But we do need to get it under control. The spam really doesn't bug me too much personally, but it is a minor annoyance to many.
For the life of me I don't understand why the owner spends the money to keep FPGs up, but doesn't care at all about its content. Or at least make some faithful members admins and curators.
