Default Bogus? Protection? A new logo?

I received a prolonged Cyber Monday ad from Macy's today (Wednesday) for a Montblanc pen. I noticed a lot of script/drawing on the cap. I have not seen a Montblanc with script on the cap which is so visable, and, to a degree, tacky. Is this pen (see photo) bogus (fake)? Is the script a watermark of sorts (Protection)? Is Montblanc doing this on their pens (a new logo)? Something else--like Macy's trying to be cute? As a note, I am not interested in buying it but the script/drawing seemed odd.

    That's weird, but apparently legit.

    From MB:

Since its launch in 1924, Montblanc's Meisterstück has been widely regarded as the quintessential fine writing instrument, symbolizing refined taste and a bold extension of oneself. Whether used to pen a love letter or sign a historical document, the Meisterstück has left an indelible mark on the pages of history. To honor this milestone, Montblanc delved deep into its archives and created the Origin collection, paying homage to the brand's rich history and heritage. The collection draws inspiration from early designs found in our archives, as well as design features featured on the earliest Meisterstück editions, capturing the founding spirit and infusing it with a modern flair. Expertly crafted from blue precious resin, the cap features a fluid pattern inspired by early designs, representing the dissolution of ink onto paper, elegantly contrasted by platinum-coated fittings. The clip is a homage to early clip shapes found in some of the first Meisterstück writing instruments, evoking a sense of nostalgia. Upon closer inspection, one can discover the original Meisterstück logo, which has adorned the cap as a symbol of high quality since its inception. This jubilee edition is crowned with a rhodium-coated solid gold nib, proudly displaying the number 100 , along with the years 1924 and 2024 . Here's to another 100 years of excellence with Meisterstück!

It looks like a custom engraved pen. I can see it is a neat authentic MB. A Chinese knock off pen can't replicate such quality look on a MB.

After going to the MB website it seems the Origin is the only pen to have the engraving...so, it is legit. As to the visual appeal, well....beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I can appreciate the notion of standard production pens in other colors, without the LE exclusivity and prices; and I hope they take the idea further with replicas of other nice materials of the past.

As for the font, I don't see why they just didn't use the original that was found on the cap. Their current choice looks like one used in a comic strip.

To be sure about the authenticity of the pen, especially since you found its design questionable, it would be a good idea to compare it directly with pens listed on Montblanc’s official website or to consult an authorized Montblanc retailer. They could confirm whether it's a genuine product and perhaps shed light on any new design directions the company might be taking.
