    Default EFNIR: Jinhao Deep Blue

Extra Fine Nib Ink Review: Jinhao Deep Blue

This is review #318 in my series. Here's the YouTube video:

Post-recording notes: Added a tiny bit of water. This is my kind of color. The microscope slide was boring (one lonely but lovely dye).

Cleaning was very quick and easy.

Zoomed in photo (This is very close to what my eyes see, maybe a little greyer.)

Screenshot (Color's a little dark and flat.)

Scan of Completed Review (This is also very close. It and the zoom are the best for color.)

Absorbent Paper Close-up (top is puzzle paper like thick newsprint, bottom is old 20lb copy paper) (Both are close to what I see.)

Line width (The "I" in "Ink:". Magnification is 100x. The grid is 100x100µm. The scale is 330µm, with eleven divisions of 30µm each. The line width for this ink is roughly 312µm. With 318 inks measured, the average line width is 297µm.)

    Previous Review: Jinhao Green Bamboo.

My kind of ink too, Liz! I might have JDB in a cart. I love shading inks that clean fast, unlike supersaturated types (don't ask!).

Thanks for making each Tuesday magically fun... I always look forward to the review and story.

Background beeps, moans 'n' groans notwithstanding, I wish you a merry NYE, and a happy New Year. See ya next year!
My other pen is a Montblanc.

And my other blog is a tumblr!

I'm not asking - who needs to ask - supersaturated = frustrations. This is a lovely color, and I'll enjoy the remaining cartridges despite the line width and long dry time.

You're most welcome! And thank you!

Happy New Year to you, too! Best wishes for an enjoyable NYE, too! (I fear my kitties will be unhappy about fireworks tonight.)

Great last review of 2024 Looking forward to 2025....

Despite myself, I really like the colour of the ink. Thankfully, I have, (hopefully unexpired) Essri and other IG bluebacks).
Friendship secrets. Quin is turning into quite a complex characters, with lots of skeletons in the closet. I thought he would relax and be open with Makhabesh or Essri?

The quote is so true. Having seen many documentaries on artists/musicians it seems that they need to sacrifice everything /everyone to become great. Maybe it's tha parable of the lotus. To grow gorgeous flowers with feet in the mud

Thanks! Hopefully it's a good year for reviews - and everything else!

Why despite yourself? It's a great color. We can like it without needing to buy it. I'll enjoy the cartridges I have left, but there are enough other great dark blues and blue-blacks to not worry about getting this one. Long life to your IGs!

Yes, family secrets tend not to stay in the family, even if they stay secret! Time will tell where this one goes...

Indeed. It's not a commitment otherwise.

So I kept seeing this thread title in the main list of subforums, and thought "Jinhao"? Meh.

I'm glad I clicked anyway. That's a really nice dark blue / blue black.

    Good review.

Yeah, I wouldn't have been terribly interested either - and truth be told, I only got the ink to see if the cartridges would work in my Karas Kustoms Fountain K Mini, since they appear bigger than a standard international. But alas, they don't fit.

I'm glad I happened to get this ink. (It was a 6-color pack, 5 cartridges per color.) Dry time and behavior on poor paper aren't so hot, but the color is gorgeous.
