Default Is Applebloom a good vendor?

I'm thinking of purchasing some items from Applebloom (https://appelboom.com). Can anyone here remark on their reliability?

Their prices seem too good. For a reference example, I checked black Lamy Safari fountain pen prices. The prices are $18.99 at Applebloom, $29.60 at JetPens, and $23.80 to $28.99 on Amazon.

They have been around for a while now and are well known as reliable sellers. I know they are still active on their EU site but am not sure if they still have a sales outlet within the US.

I believe they closed their physical store in Boston, but I am sure they're happy to ship to US.

Default Is Applebloom a good vendor?

Appleboom closed the Boston store last year. I used to visit it as "Bromfield’s," but not since it was sold to Appleboom. Damn shame.

I initially had a couple of orders that were fine - no issue, just a regular purchase. However, the last time I ordered I was caught in a situation where they took orders for items they didn't have, and it took months to fulfill, which included communications that were ignored or only answered after a long delay. I chalked it up to "one of those things", but since then I have read numerous people having the same 'pre-order' issues. Whether or not that is just online venting making the issue larger than it actually is, I'd be wary, and I wouldn't order something there for just a small discount if I could get it at a known reliable vendor. Caveat emptor, I suppose.

That was my experience with La Couronne du Comte.

That's a shame.... I have ordered a pen from them long time ago (before they opened the Boston store) and was happy. If this is their practice now, I wouldn't bother...

Well, I'm but one data point, yet it is worth noting since the OP asked.

I contacted Applebloom and learned that they ship to the USA and that such orders over €250 are free of shipping charges.

I believe the correct spelling for this vendor is "Appelboom". I've never ordered for them, but they do supply/loan SBRE Brown with quite a few of the pens he reviews.

SBRE Brown's website has a link to Appelboom which will get you a 10% discount on most items (Montblanc, AKkerman inks and discounted products excluded). Most of you are probably already aware of Mr. Brown's site, but for those who aren't it’s: http://www.sbrebrown.com.

I've ordered from Appelboom and had very good service with them. He does a lot of youtube videos as well.
