I don't think I would but I've never had to make that decision as I've never had one. LOL In fact never even seen one IRL. I remember the guy on BBC TV's Bargain Hunt used to wear one on quite a long chain around his neck. I sometimes wondered if he ever dipped it in his soup.

I used to have a Parker Slinger ballpoint. Didn't wear it, though.

    yes I would do that.
I usually walk around with a FP clipped to the collar of my t-shirt, and I've definitely lost pens that way.
    Never a Pelikan though.
Come to think of it, I did wreck the clip on a Pelikan Go that way once.

When you live in a cold climate like in Canada, where fall and spring are short bookends for a hot & humid summers and eternal cold winters, the question is moot, unless you're a lawyer or politician.
Most people look like Bigfoot or Chewbacca with unwieldiness boots, heavy coats, and many layers of clothing. The only people, I've seen crazy enough to wear not much are teenagers, who looks like cooked shrimps/lobsters, shivering with their phone glued/frozen to their hands
As for summer, everyone wears the least amount possible. So wearing a jacket is not optional, unless getting married, or going to a wedding....
That leaves a few months, where one can play dandy. And frankly it's not worth a while to lose a Pelikan, unless it's just a faux lid, as an accessory

Maybe there's a market for decorative pen caps that stylish individuals who don't feel the cold can clip in their buttonholes. Something like when people wore Parker 51 caps in their breast pockets just for show — or is that apocryphal?

Or you can order your custom made jacket with the appropriate pen cap, the Pelikan, the Montblanc.
Or a new style, the Fountain pen jacket, a modern jacket, that comes with all the vintage accessories: A pipe, fountain pen, pocket watch. All "enhanced" with AI accessories, to assess your health and environment

Yup! Digital assistants that can tell you your heart rate, blood pressure trend, how many steps you've taken, & how many puffs of crack, meth, or other inhalatory consumables each day..

I think I have a "pen" that may fit this description:

This dummy is made of solid hard rubber and the cap and barrel are firmly screwed together.

Remember, it's not just a question of leakage, but also the likelihood of the barrel unthreading from the cap, only to drop to the bottom of the pocket and having copious ink leach from feed to fabric. Navy blazers will conceal such mishaps in the inside breast pocket. BTDT

this is why I write everything for the day, glue the cap on and get on with it.

That guy with the pen in his lapel looks incredibly goofy and lacking in tasteful style. He seems to just want to call attention to himself, and not care if it's positive or otherwise.

Hmmm. That moves it from the realm of the foolish to the realm of somewhat disturbing. If he's a model, he's displaying someone's deliberate vision intended to influence people into buying into that vision.

I get foolish but why disturbing?

According to the profile (second link in the first post), he's a stylist who has worked for the Rolling Stones and Jude Law. He seems fairly committed to carrying and using his fountain pen:

I have NFO – no fixed office – and that’s the way I like it. When I began working, the option of not doing the same thing every day was very appealing, and it’s been my modus operandi ever since. I live within earshot of Lord’s cricket ground and cycle into town along the canal. I spend, on average, a day a week with Oliver Spencer at his design studio below his shop on Lamb’s Conduit Street in Holborn. I guess I have become his sounding board over the past 10 years and I enjoy the variety of our collaboration. I’m always looking, taking notes, keeping my eyes open, because in my opinion “if you don’t use it, you’ll lose it”. So I take my “office” with me: a trusty fountain pen in my buttonhole, a notebook in my jacket pocket and a digital camera tethered to my person by a lanyard. Because after three Martinis, cameras tend to go walkies.
