    Default EFNIR: Jinhao Bluish Violet

Extra Fine Nib Ink Review: Jinhao Bluish Violet

This is review #320 in my series. Here's the YouTube video:

Post-recording notes: This is a fairly middle-of-the-road purple - most of my other purples were either redder or bluer, often darker or brighter, sometimes more muted... Monteverde Amethyst was the only one close. The microscope slide was boring. Cleaning was quick and easy.

    Zoomed in photo (Pretty close.)

    Screenshot (Text is too dark.)

Scan of Completed Review (Too red on one monitor, also the text is a little too pale.)

Absorbent Paper Close-up (top is puzzle paper like thick newsprint, bottom is old 20lb copy paper) (Pretty close.)

Line width (The "I" in "Ink:". Magnification is 100x. The grid is 100x100µm. The scale is 360µm, with twelve divisions of 30µm each. The line width for this ink is roughly 337µm. With 320 inks measured, the average line width is 297µm.)

    Previous Review: Nemosine Black.

Thanks @LizEF for another excellent review
I'm assuming this colour is close to Kaweco Summer Purple, which I would probably like, but there's something off about reddish purples or purplish reds to my eyes, especially when icombined with the High (low) Wizard. Probably the subtext would read: "As the Wizardess healer marches into the room, her flowing robes sparkling in the sunlight, followed by Quin, the youngest son of his arch-rival, the High Wizard stood up, his beady eyes whizzing like a mad caged sphinx. He tried to give himself gravitas, caressing his sparse beard. But he see the pity in the gentle gaze of the Snek and mockery in that of Makhabesh...."

Thanks for giving me a moment to channel some creativity from an insipid ink and Wizard
    Ne supra crepidam

I have Kaweco Summer Purple, which I think is duskier. Anyway, it wasn't similar enough to make it into the comparisons. IMO, this ink doesn't really fit its name - it doesn't seem that "bluish" to me.

Fabulous, Yazeh! Perfect. I actually have no visual for the High Wizard - he's such a minor character in my brain, despite his frequent returns. He's like a Star Trek red-shirt - expendable...

Whoa. Those are some feathers worthy of a Sphinx's wings.

You may have guessed by now that I am not a huge fan of poiple ink, but this Jinhao version seems very springlike and pretty, and on a cold windy day when I'm grumbling 'Die, winter, die,' it's most welcome.

Is this ink an Unobtainium? I may have to settle for Waterman…

I like Heilari's imperious sweep. But poor beleagured Quin. Good thing he has his Snek, Vika and Makhabesh along!

Liz, you make Tuesdays magical and fun... I always look forward to the review and story and I'm wondering what's next. Thank you!
My other pen is a Montblanc.

And my other blog is a tumblr!

And my latest ebook, for spooky wintery reading:

A magical ink that creates replacement feathers for injured sphinxes.

Cold grey winters certainly make bright colors of all sorts more appealing.

Nope. Cartridges are available on Amazon. I didn't explicitly look for bottles, but Jinhao Deep Blue comes in bottles, so I'd guess this does too, but you might need to look on eBay or AliExpress or something. Of course, the Waterman will be better-behaved.

Never mess with a Wizardess who's also a Doctor who's also the Chief Healer at a university! Friends make a world of difference!
