Default FS: Danitrio Shiki (4 Seasons) Maki-e

You are looking at Danitrio's new Haiku: Shiki (4 Seasons) Maki-e by Maki-e master, Mr. Tatsuya Todo (Kosetsu). The pens are based on Basho's Haiku. Lots of gold foils were used as background before maki-e painting were done. This layers of gold foils give that wall paper like background. Instead of your typical red or black urushi background, these pens are glorious in person. #5 sets were sold at the LA show. This set is #8 (and no, you don't have to buy the set).

Retail price is $1800 each pen, and my price is $1250 delivered within US per pen or $1275 delivered internationally (per pen). 18kt Flexy Fine Nib, Clipless, Cartridge/converter filler. Size of MB 149 length.

    1. Spring (春風に吹き出し笑う花もがな )
    "A flower's wish:
    To burst out laughing,
    Blooming with spring wind"

    2. Summer (あらたうと青葉若葉の曰の光 )
    "How spectacular!
on the flash of the sun
the sharp leaves, the young leaves"

    3. Autumn ( この道や行く人なしに秋の暮 )
    "This road!
    No one travels it,
    An autumn evening"

    4. Winter (花みな枯れてあわれをこぼす草の種 )
    "The withered flowers,
    drop their seeds
    like tears"

These are just. . . Wow. One day I will splurge. Can you phonetically tell me once and for all how to say maki-e? I don't think I have ever heard it spoken.

an "a" something between "to cut" and "mum". And the "maki" is divided into the syllables "ma" and "ki".

And here a sound file for "maki"
