    Default EFNIR: Pelikan Edelstein Tanzanite

Extra Fine Nib Ink Review: Pelikan Edelstein Tanzanite

This is review #323 in my series. Here's the YouTube video:

Post-recording notes: This ink was gifted to me by a generous FPNer. The microscope slide was boring. Cleaning was fairly easy, but I did use a pen flush to speed things - a tiny bit of blue wanted to cling. If you don't need to absolutely ensure it's all gone, plain water will be sufficient.

This is my kinda color! Really enjoyed the writing experience, too.

Sorry, forgot to note the performance on absorbent paper (bit feathery) and on copy paper (minor fuzz) during the review, so the review page images don't have it either.

Erratum: "...I think your EF nib will like this in regardless..." - "in" should be "ink".

Zoomed in photo (Might be a smidge under-saturated, but this is very close to what I see.)

    Screenshot (Color is too dark.)

Scan of Completed Review (Pretty close. Color is maybe a little under-saturated.)

Absorbent Paper Close-up (top is puzzle paper like thick newsprint, bottom is old 20lb copy paper) (Pretty close.)

Line width (The "I" in "Ink:". Magnification is 100x. The grid is 100x100µm. The scale is 330µm, with eleven divisions of 30µm each. The line width for this ink is roughly 295µm. With 323 inks measured, the average line width is 297µm.) (You can see a little of the red sheen.)

    Excellent review @LizEF
Finally, we're free of Jinhao and cartridges
This is a really pleasing color to the eye with intriguing attributes.

To find one's place in a world is the ultimate goal of humans, and many find it just before they leave. Maybe finding our place in this world is accepting what cannot be changed and change what can be.

I'm looking forward to the grey adventures of our merry band.

Thanks for bringing back ink bottles to this snowy day

    It's a relief, isn't it?

Yes, I'm very glad a kind soul from across the ocean gifted me this one. I had dismissed it as too purple, but it's not - it's lovely!

Learning to enjoy what is without obsessing over what isn't makes all the difference. This morning, in another (non-FP) forum, someone posted this link, about the character of Mr. Collins from Pride and Prejudice. It seems applicable here. A quote from the article:
My point here is that circumstances can certainly aid us in happiness, but they cannot create it. Mr. Collins is a lucky fellow, but he also has the constitution to enjoy it. Through either personality or practice, he has developed a habit of regarding life in a way that enables him to enjoy it. He makes it a point to notice the things in his life about which he is pleased. And there is no joy too small to celebrate. Be it boiled potatoes, the windowpanes at Rosings, or the momentous advent of shelves in a closet, Mr. Collins gives himself over to delight. To put it simply: he has cultivated thankfulness.

Lovely review, LizEF! Much like the late, GREAT, ink-maven Sandy1 @FPN, I appreciate a blue-black. Is it a daily writer? A go-to ink? Majik? "Ah kushbaby, have you the need of a default ink that is not Zombie resistant?"

I do miss her (Sandy1, not kushbaby. I have no idea who kushbaby is.)

Many thanks for all you do Liz...

High praise! Sandy1 was much more thorough than I am. I miss her and visvamitra. Meanwhile, I love a good blue-black. If it works out, I may make this one permanent in my Visconti Homo Sapiens London Fog - it's next on my list to try (the previous two didn't / doesn't work).

My color ink, too! Though I've always heard Tanzanite was wet, as in, 'if you have a dry pen, this will cure it.' I have soooo many blue-blacks....yet this tempts.

Our little snek is back. With a laugh like shedding skin. That's a good one! Our Liz manages to make Tuesdays magical and fun... I always look forward to the review and story.
My other pen is a Montblanc.

And my other blog is a tumblr!

And my latest ebook, for spooky wintery reading:

It's hard to resist a good blue-black. See my comments in the review about the flow - I don't know how to explain it - can the viscosity say it's wet while the surface tension says it's dry? Either way, it performed well, and I'm looking forward to trying it in my Visconti...
