I'm not a huge fan of the neon colors, but I really love the 2012 apple green one. Definitely my favorite Safari.
Or - even better - precious resin!
I'm very fond of Safaris. I bought my first one 30 years ago, and it was my only pen for 10 years, finally succumbing to sudden falling-apart disorder, secondary to chronic cross-top clip-screw twiddling syndrome. They are a modern design classic, and in my opinion the ABS material is part of that. Perhaps that's why I was never taken by the Al-Star, which doesn't seem to wear as well as the classic model.
The ABS plastic is incredibly well wearing and seems slightly more scratch resistance than the aluminum of the Al-Star.
The Joy is good desktop pen but that long tail can poke out an eye if you fall asleep while using one.
I think the Nexx is an under-rated pen hampered by the less than stylish cap.

I have a few of the Nexx-es and I love 'em.
My other pen is a Montblanc.

The nexx m has a better cap. And the opal green is nice.

"What are moon-letters?" asked the hobbit full of excitement. He loved maps, as I have told you before; and he also loved runes and letters, and cunning handwriting, though when he wrote himself it was a bit thin and spidery.
Black with red clip or red with black clip, that would be my dream version. And that Coffee version sure sounds nice, especially if it came with a black or gold clip.
The neon colors isn't my thing.

I still want them to do Vistas in tinted colors, like Monteverde does with the Artista Crystal. Bright colors would be nice, but so would subdued colors like smoke or amber like TWSBI does.
The Safari and Al-Star get LE's. The Vista should too.
Gosh. I got a Safari (the graphite-greyish one with the black nib--sort of a 'Stealth' look) just to see what everyone is talking about. So far, I feel I might not have the right ink in it or the flow isn't right or some such. And, this may sound odd, but the nib gives me the sensation of being plastic as it rubs across the paper.....
Anyway, I'd be for a very dark purple--in the Aubergine/Eggplant range...
Checking my meds now.

The Coln Gallery has Shiny Pink as the 2014 colour. It seems similar to the previous pink LE pens to me. Must surely be a mistake or maybe they mean the pink is becoming a regular colour this year.

Meanwhile the Lamy Nexx is coming with a Neon Orange special edition.

Yep, Lamy love their end cap variations; from Gino Santaguida's Safari list there were also
Pink with a pink dot end cap 2009 - I thought the dot usually designates a rollerball (must remember to have a look next time I see some).*
Pink with a pink cross end cap 2011 - I think this was re-released in 2013 again.
If Lamy were to follow Pantone, the colour of the year 2014 would be Radiant Orchid 18-3224 - and we would finally have a purple Safari.

* Rollerballs have a single groove across the cap button.
The Studio rollerball has a depressed dot.
