    Default Visionnaire

The pen I supported on Kick starter arrived today. It is a surprisingly nice pen with a metallic body and a medium German nib. It is a cartridge convertor and came with a small packet of cartridges. The presentation was extraordinary for such a pen. Wrapped in cellophane, placed in a pen sleeve and then into a cardboard cylinder like a cigar.
It also came with a note from the designer and a" founder's" card with a discount card for future purchases.

There's a very interesting thread about these pens on FPN. Seems like this pen is not that original.

When I heard about the Visionnaire and then read the kickstarter blurb I thought it was going to be something special. Seeing the pictures didn't match with the hype.

I'm glad you like it and hope the pen works well for you.

Agreed with all. I was happy that it wasn't a piece of junk, but rather a pretty ordinary, but quite serviceable pen. There is nothing unique, special or otherwise noteworthy about it. It writes quite nicely. One does have to wonder why the creator went to all this trouble when he could have bought a Metropolitan or even say a Shaeffer Prelude, both of which it reminds me of. I can't see it making a claim on anyone. I was happy to help someone get started and for $37 hope to get a decent pen and I succeeded.

If it spreads the good word of fountain pens to an audience that it would not have come into contact with - more power to it.

I agree. At first I thought it was dumb because you could get all manner of Chinese pens for under $10. But I started with Jinhaos and I got to a Montblanc 146. If the Visionnaire spreads the madness, more power to it.

Does that mean that the pen is not made in the East?

Actually, I think it is but it feels much better made than one would expect. The nib is German and the feed and nib mechanism are very reliable.
