    Default Cheerful but useful Blue?

    Hi everyone,

...just ran out of pelikan 4001 royal blue, and I'm looking for a more interesting blue that is dry and doesn't feather much. I would REALLY not want to spend more than $15. I really have had a great experience with diamine, so if anyone knows a dry blue ink they make (hopefully in a bright shade), I'd much appreciate it!

    Will

I like Diamine Asa Blue. It is close to Private Reserve Naples Blue and Tropical Blue.

I can't think of any Diamine blues like that at the moment, but Pilot Blue is good - very reliable, bright, and also waterproof.

Pilot blue (jetpens has the 70ml) is great, alternate might be Waterman Serenity Blue. Or, put a splash of something like PR DCSSB into your 4001.

Waterman Florida Blue or whatever they call it now. Might be a bit on the wet side but I am surprised at how much I like it.

I also suggest waterman Florida blue. It's a nice colour and extremely pen friendly and easy to clean up.

i think i'll go with asa blue, as I have read that it is a dry ink that looks great. If anyone DOESN't like this ink, could you tell me why?

Well, I think Lamy Blue looks a bit like the Pelikan 4001 Royal Blue, it's fairly quick-drying ink, and it has that cool ink bottle with the well in the bottom and the blotting/nib-wiping paper attached

R&K Salix is a nice blue that is also an iron gall, so dries quickly, doesn't feather and is waterproof. It's not desperately bright, but it is a lot more colourful than most iron galls. Shades well too.
