My quest to make the perfect pen case continues I mentioned earlier in this thread I was looking to make a three pen case,
I was asked to make a case that could hold three pens and a notebook.
Well here is where I am up to,

    IMG_6674_1 by my0771, on Flickr

As you can tell from the picture above I am quite far on except that I did not like the holder for the notebook so that became the inside and I made a new outer cover.

The next step is to trim and fold over all of the edges of these pieces then sew and stick them to the inner liner the inner liner will then be sewn a stuck to the outer cover.
I could just stick and sew everything to the outer cover but then you would see all of the stitches on the outer cover my way you will only see the stitches around the edges.

    Thanks
    Michael

The next steps in Alc3261 s three pen and notebook case every thing is trimmed to the correct size and I am planning on dying the leather next week.

    IMG_6690_1 by my0771, on Flickr

School holidays have slowed work this week I have also been clearing out rubbish from our garage there are boxes in there that have not been opened since we moved here 16 years ago.
The pieces you can see in the picture are the pen slots and closing flap and also the notebook holder they are sitting on the piece of leather which will form the inside lining they will be glued and sewn into place then the inner piece will be glued and sewn into the outer cover.

I have been putting off dying the red ten pen case for no other reason than I find the red dye difficult to apply.

    Anyway today was the day.

I finished applying the dye 10 minutes ago and it is starting to dry now

I also took the opportunity to dye two single pen cases at the same time

It was a good color choice with the silver stud.

Well spotted Kia one has a brass stud and the other is supposed to be silver plated although I am not certain it is.
It already has a home and will be winging its way to the USA early next week.

The second one has not been sewn as yet I want to use a contrasting thread gold black or white are the current choices

    Thanks

Any of the three stitching colors you listed for the single case will be good.

Black for the 10-pen case (simply opinion on my part here). I think the turquoise would pair up better with a navy or dark blue case. Then again, it is an interesting enough pairing with the red to start a few conversations.

The decision on the colour of the suede has been left to me and I have decided to go with the black I may use red thread for the stitching.
    Thanks

I have been asked before if I could make a round case and at the time thought it was above my skill level, I was asked again yesterday and thought I would give it ago.
I rounded over the end do a piece of dowel and cut a piece of leather to the correct length.

    IMG_6743_1 by my0771, on Flickr

I then wet the leather and wrapped it around the dowel.

    IMG_6746 by my0771, on Flickr

Then I kept sewing until I reached the end. I then wrapped another piece of leather on top of the first piece and sewed that together to form a lid.

    Thanks

Final stages for the round pen case I just need to get a leather thong for the closure system

Takes an oversize delta easily and will take a pen up to 23 mm in diameter and 180 mm long

That is great! The round case is very beautiful and a great make! I'm not sure it could be improved upon, it is very cool. I really like how you have stitched it, it looks right for the case, rustic but fine at the same time. Thanks for sharing it, Michael!

Thanks Crazyorange the pen was a gift from a friend and is a treasured possession.

Kia this was my first attempt at sewing a cylinder and I am fairly pleased with it I don't like the ends I would like to keep the stitching going right around the ends like a ball,
Working out the cuts will be difficult though.

I am also working on adding kydex for strength and a lining for comfort.

    Thanks

Kydex cylinder with a leather insert

    IMG_6761_1 by my0771, on Flickr

I have overlapped the thin lining leather to cover the edge of the kydex

    IMG_6766_1 by my0771, on Flickr

I will form the outer leather around the kydex

    Thanks for looking

I used a leather thong fixed at the top and bottom with a leather toggle and a little silver rose.

This is very nice, Michael, and I love your addition of the rose charm on the closure.

You may need to start an online or Etsy shop.

Thanks Kia I bought the charms for my daughters midori notebook they came in a pack of ten so I used one here.
You are not the first to suggest an etsy store.
I am quite happy to continue making cases on request I made the round case because I was asked if I could make one and the only way to find out was to make one.
    I do like a challenge.
