I've thought about making a comment probably 10 times, and this is all I could come up with.

There has always been something "off" with that guy. From the mis/disinformation to the constant LOLs.

How he became a moderator is beyond me but he is one of the reasons I very infrequently visit the site now.

I visit that site because there is lots of traffic on there. I don't like the interface as I prefer the vBulletin format. Pretty much all my other hobby forums are vBulletin as well. I read, reply, but do not post new threads there 'cept for just once. They have an active sales section, which I bought a few things from.

I prefer this forum more, but the traffic is not as high

But it gets managed by a mod who has full control over the number of tickets, the collection of money and the outcome of the draw.

The same thing happened a couple of years ago on a $2500 watch. It went to some unknown newbie member. That case was never resolved. These are big stakes at hand with raffle tickets going for $25 to $50 at times, not some $50 pen.

The forum members making the biggest stink about impropriety of the draw got banned from the forum administrator or mod or something.
What a small world... I think I know exactly which incident you're talking about.

    Was it a Panerai?

I get that this refers to a "Pay It Forward" thread, but for those who aren't regulars at FPN, would you care to give us the background on this statement?

I wonder if its just coincidence that this forum is seeing quite a jump in posts since the other one went down.

    Hope it keeps up.

I would often check here to see if something interesting had been posted. Sadly, there would usually be a lack of activity. I like that this forum comes up a lot faster than FPN. FPN is quite slow on my old computers.

Maybe this is Philip Benz? I'm assuming most here have heard, or seen an EBay example, of the world-famous Philip Benz Collection

I'm assuming you aren't kidding - yes, this always happens. Most of the people are nice enough to use the forum for information, and a few stay on. A small subset try to use it as a surrogate to continue FPN activity, to be abandoned once FPN is back up again. Frankly, I've seen this happen in a couple of other forums over the years, where a more populous one will encounter difficulties and they'll flood a smaller one (much worse than this case). It can be crazy for a while, but few stay once the other is fixed.

Me? I like that there is less traffic here. With FPG and FPB, I have both conviviality and knowledge at my fingertips, without the downsides of a larger, more rigid arena. I think the variety of forums works to the benefit of all.
