Or will it damage the feed and permanently stain the ink window?

If it is an old model with a cork seal, I wouldn't do it for risk of gumming up the cork.
If it is a modern seal, it shouldn't matter too much.
Why not use Pelikan black? It is waterproof and as dark as any without the problems.

I've used more than half a bottle of Pelikan black without realising that it's waterproof. It's good to know. Thanks whych.
I can at least testify that Pelikan black behaves really well.
I've never had any issues with Noodler's Black. It's one of the best behaved Noodler's inks in my experience.

+1 on Pelikan 4001 Black. I got a 1000mL bottle and I have no regrets (:
I squirt it into spare Montblanc bottles and like it!
And it's not terribly dry. I would say its somewhere between Waterman BB and Pelikan 4001 Royal Blue. 4001 Royal Blue is a lot drier, in my experience, than 4001 Black.
1000ml, as in 1 full LITER? Holy smokes, that's a lot of ink! I'd love to see a pic of that.
I know I'm a big Noodler's fan, but a 149 just holds too much ink for me to do this with one of those puppies. I don't use ink quickly enough.

This is of their drawing ink and it's a stock photo, but it gives you an idea of the 1000mL, compared with the 250mL, compared with the regular bottles.

Noodler's Bulletproof Black is very well behaved and washes out of pens very easily. I don't see it being a problem in a MB 149. The only part that it could stain would be the cork in the older pens, but I'm pretty sure any ink would do that!
I've (knock on wood) not had BPB stain anything other than paper, wood or cloth.
