If you promise not to laugh, we dug out the DVD 'Paycheck' the other evening. Great fun

I really liked it. While it had mixed reviews I like how they didn't shy away from some of the real family things we deal with in life.
Watched "Lucy" this past weekend.
Got ink?
I watched The Interview this weekend. I wasn't expecting much, but it was better than I was expecting.
It is a Seth Rogen movie, and it was a Seth Rogen movie. I knew what to expect, and I got what I expected. It's not my favorite type of movie, but I was entertained.
My most recently viewed movie was Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit. In some ways it was analogous to The Interview in the sense of taking whatever it was doing to an extreme. In this case the suspense-action-thriller stuff was taken to the point where it was difficult to suspend disbelief. When things go that far from plausibility, I'm usually expecting some talking animals. But I enjoyed it. I'm starting to like Chris Pine, and it was refreshing to see Kevin Costner in a supporting role. I had a hard time seeing Kenneth Branagh as a Russian. Perhaps it would have helped if I had never seen Henry V or Much Ado About Nothing, or maybe it is just that he looks a little too likely to smile.

"Fury" with Brad Pitt. WWll movie. Beautifully made, but we were disappointed by some of the contrived, seamy actions on the part of Pitt's character and what seemed like deliberate, negative stereoyping of the characters playing his tank team.

Showpiecer......reminds me of Elysium.
The Water Diviner directed by (& starring) Russell Crowe. It's an excellent movie and Russell Crowe is brilliant. His ability to convey so much internalised grief with stillness is impressive.
Jupiter Ascending. *yawn*
I tried to watch Mr. Peabody & Sherman but could only stand about five minutes of it before stopping in utter disgust. It is pitiful how much they did to turn great comedy into pathetic puerile slop.

I watched the movie "Frontera" last night. I was very pleasantly surprised by this film, and thought it was very well done. For those who are not into subtitles, try not to let the first 15 or so minutes deter you. There is quite a bit of spanish dialogue with subtitles, but the remainder of the movie is in English.
Beware of oblique conclusions.
I couldn't agree more. I love a good foreign film, especially those from China.
I mentioned this because I had a conversation about this movie with a co-worker, and they had asked if it was a foreign language film due to the fact that the first several minutes is in spanish. My co-worker indicated that he had actually stopped watching, because had the impression that the entire movie was subtitled. I told him that he missed a good picture.
Beware of oblique conclusions.
