Last two finished were both by Anatole France, The Reine Pedauque, and Penguin Island. Both in English translation.

In progress now (I tend to skip around).

S., by Doug Dorst. Interesting experimental format. A "library" copy of a novel by a fictional author, with two college students carrying on an intense dialog by way of marginal notes, and documents left between the pages. The book comes in a cardboard slip case with a tape closure, so that everything doesn't fall out before you have a chance to get to it.

A Column of Fire, by Ken Follet

Earth Abides, by George R. Stewart. If you're not familiar with that one, but look it up, you may see how it might be "relevant". Although hopefully not all that relevant.

No, though it’s a thing here. I usually scan the Pulitzer short list for titles and this looked interesting.

The Great Typo Hunt; Two Friends Changing the World, One Correction at a Time, by Jeff Deck and Benjamin Herson. It's about two guys (and a couple others along the way) traveling across North America fixing grammar and spelling errors on signs and whatnot. Mildly amusing, some pages worth reading but most not. The National Park Service was not amused. I'm returning to Dickens after I finish a period mystery I gave (gifted?) to my wife last Christmas that she didn't read.

    The Hunters by James Salter.

Beautifully written, romantic novel about fighter pilots in the Korean War. The price of being a hero.

The Carnivore Code. The first book that had the greatest impact on my way of eating was Gary Taubes' Why We Get Fat: And What to do About It.

Audiobook: *Whoever Fights Monsters: My Twenty Years Tracking Serial Killers for the FBI.* Ressler

Finally finished *The Demon-Haunted World.* Sagan. Overall glad I read it. At almost 500 pages, and because for me it dragged on in some places, I did skim some areas. I found some parts of it to be absolute gold and still timely. But not all of it. For example, the section on education was less relevant as many things have changed around science education since the 90s.

"The Boy" by Tami Hoag. It starts off with the murder of a little boy, it twists turns all the way to the end to who the killer was.

I read it about 20 years or so ago, and you nailed it, Kevin. An excellent read.

I’ve never been able to find that one. I loved his other books, especially Light Years. The movie he wrote for Robert Redford is pretty damn good, too.

It is available at Amazon. I haven't read LY yet. Solo Faces may be my next by him. I've also read a few of the stories in his collection, Dusk.

Downhill Racer is very good! I've never been much for Redford as an actor, but he made a good jerk in that movie.
