Reading Barbara Cleverly's first book, The Last Kashmira Rose, a great mystery set in India in the 1920's. First Commander Joe Sandilands book, great atmospheric book, first of a series.

Peace, a collection of the late photographer Jim Marshall's photos of the peace symbol. The book includes essays by artist Shephard Fairey, and an afterword by Joan Baez.

Finishing up the book, Hedy's Folly : The Life and Breakthrough Inventions of Hedy Lamarr, the Most Beautiful Woman in the World. I have been a big fan of Hedy for a long time. Everyone in this forum owes something to Hedy as her hopping frequency invention is the basis for a lot of what we use each and every day. Wicked smart, beautiful and not a bad actress.

On the table: the untethered soul - the journey beyond yourself, by Michael A. Singer. Hat tip to the late Dr. Wayne Dyer for mentioning this in his audiobook Divine Love.

Tara Westover: Educated. A life so different from my own that it would be beyond my understanding were it not so well written.

Sigh. So disappointed in the mini-series of Tana French’s Dublin Murder Club. But isn’t that always the way of it?

*Executioner: Pierrepoint* (Kindle version) - autobiography of Albert Pierrepoint, the man who became Britain's "Number One" hangman. His father and uncle were also in the trade, and the family's involvement as hangmen spanned a bit more than 50 years during the 20th century. As grisly a topic as this may seem, the book is very well written and quite fascinating.
One caveat - this Kindle edition contains literally 1000's of mispellngs: OCR gone badly awry. One egregious example - the word "the" appears more often than not as "die".

Just finished Simone St. James's The Sun Down Motel. Murder mystery/ghost story. Not for everyone, but I enjoyed it.

I’ve always been such a fan of hers! Long ago in school one of my classmates was names “Hedy” because her father REALLY liked Hedy Lamar. I didn’t know who she was until I was much older and thought she was very beautiful without any indication that she knew this was true! Fascinating person.

Kindle edition of *Where Away: A Modern Odyssey* (1944) by George Sessions Perry and Isabel Leighton. Very fine account of the travails of the light cruiser USS Marblehead and its crew, who were bombed by Japanese forces and almost sunk in one of the first Pacific naval battles of WWII. Over the course of several months, the crew were able to sail the severely damaged vessel to New York, via (among other stops) Ceylon, South Africa and Brazil - - a journey of about 16,000 miles.
