I haven't quite finished it yet but I'm currently reading The Never Game by Jeffrey Deaver. It's an enjoyable read and would be even more enjoyable for a video gamer. It's been a while since I read a Deaver novel.
There are currently three books starring the protagonist Colter Shaw who writes his notes with a fountain pen. A Delta Titanio Galessia - apparently a "serious fountain pen." Just in case no-one else has read any of the series I thought I would mention it.

The Whites by Richard Price. Left an icky taste in my mouth, but I finished it.
Now I am reading David Sedaris's Happy-Go-Lucky, which I like better (mostly).

Conspirator' Hierarchy: The story of the committee of 300 by John Coleman - Non-fiction
Very readable, not a long read, but detailed. There are enough references to believe much of this. If you know even some US history a lot fits. It will disagree w many liberals & their thoughts. It is very scary even if half true.
This is most likely now called The World Economic Forum. (WEF)

Shutter, a spooky mystery by Ramona Emerson. I caught an interview with her on NPR Fresh Air.
The main character is Navajo (so is the author) and a forensic photographer for the Albuquerque Police. Her whole life, she has been able to see and hear the spirits of the dead. Sometimes they pursue her to bring about resolution or justice for their deaths. It's gritty, gripping, and a great read.
I worked for several years with Navajo (Diné) students and studied the language as a grad student. I liked Emerson's take on her people and their customs.

Labyrinth of Ice by Buddy Levy. Account of the Greeley expedition to navigate the Northwest Passage.
Ice Ghosts by Paul Watson. Accounts of the many attempts to rescue/locate the Franklin Expedition through the Northwest Passage.

The Sparrow and its sequel are wonderful. And so sad. But so, in a way, was Doc; Russell absolutely hooks a person in with her storytelling. I'm going to look for some other books by her.I loved Russell’s The Sparrow!

Just finished Lucy by the Sea by Elizabeth Strout and The Sentence by Louise Erdrich. I loved them both, esp. the Erdrich.

The Sparrow and Children of God (the sequel) are two of the best books I have read in the last 20 years. I was so blown away by them that I have not been able to go back to them, although I do recommend them to others (with a trigger warning about torture and abuse). Although the story is uplifting (in a sense), I was traumatized by the description of the struggle in locked-in syndrom and now have a bit of a phobia about it. I no longer can sleep in total dark. I panic. Not before having seen that movie, though, and then reading a few chapters of the book. DONE!I was aware of the film but never saw it.Saw the film and liked it.

My last book was a BD (bande dessinée).
The last of 6 volumes: L'arabe du future, une jeunesse au Moyen-Orient by French author Riad Sattouf.
In these six volumes, the author and illustrator describes his childhood and youth between Syria and Brittany, the cultural differences, religions, racism and the difficulties of finally being able to live from drawing. Very impressive to me...
