Autumn in Venice: Ernest Hemingway and His Last Muse, by Andrea di Robilant.

This story of Hemingway's love for a young Venetian lady he met in 1948 includes some great stories about living life to the fullest, and a couple of mentions of fountain pens and handwriting.

Chung Kuo: The Middle Kingdom: Book 1 (of 8) by David Wingrove. I enjoyed it enough to purchase Book 2 before finishing Book 1. World building on the scope of the Dune or Foundation series, I'm curious to see if he can keep it going for 8 volumes. So far, I'm riveted.

Casually browsing the local stationery store the other day, check out what I found at an absurd price for a hardcover as well; something like 15 EUR.
