Okay so the squeaking seems to be normal for this pen, assuming a stock nib. Odd, but I can live with it.

I put together my three Pelikans for a photo (M100, M215 and 140). Then I noticed that the black nib from my m100 might look good on the 140. Yup. It does.

I would not have thought you could find a gold nib in a 140. Do you think someone put a M400 nib unit in there? They do fit for all I know.

In any case, this is a bargain. A bit of smoothing a la Stephen Brown should get rid of the singing.

Also, older Pelikan gold nibs with that kind of flex require a very light hand. I have one from the 1960s, an M400 in turtle shell. It writes like a dream but wants a feather-light touch on paper.

    Very nice find Ivan.

It will take more than smoothing to get it right. I think someone ground it to an oblique. The black nib looks good in it. I think I will leave the gold nib as is.

Yeah definitely frankenpen territory. I really like the look and was considering selling it but not anymore.
