Inconsistent Sailor Reglus

I bought a Sailor Reglus a few weeks ago. It's an orange one and is about the most beautiful looking pen ever. But the ink flow is very inconsistent. It never stops but it varies from okay to far too dry all the time. Has anyone else had this problem? I know it's a budget pen in Sailor terms but it's not a cheap pen at all and I'd hoped for better.

Have you tried flushing it with water and just a drop or two of dish washing fluid?

I've washed it through a couple of times but not with washing up liquid. I'll try that later. Thanks!

This did help but the pen was still writing a bit dry. I'm having a problem with another pen and someone suggested 'tricking the nib'. It didn't sort that pen out but I tried it on this Sailor and now it's perfect.
