    Default Notebook/pen holster... thing?

So my Midori is becoming more and more essential. :P I use it all the time. But it bugs me having to carry it AND a pen holder. I have the pen loop on it, but that leaves the pen flopping about exposed and it holds just ONE pen...

I've seen images online of a pen *holster* that slides over a notebook cover. Can't find great pictures tonight but this one is an example of what i'm talking about:

    6a00d8341e524153ef019103b4f186970c-800wi.jpg

Or note quite, but like this (only these seem to be for ball points, seems too skinny for 99% of my pens) http://www.quiverglobal.com/

Anyone know of such a thing that fits the Midori Traveller and could hold TWO fountain pens comfortably?

the one in that picture looks like Patrick NG's and he made those himself. I do remember something similar on Etsy.

Etsy has those floating around, but I'm not sure what search terms you would use to find one.

I have been messing about with pen cases for a little while and was thinking of making a case to hold a case that would hold a note book and pens.
I cant see how the cases are attached to the the note book is it just a slide over fit?
How big a pen would you like to fit in such a case.

I have a small Color Chart pen case that I bought from Itoya on Union Street in San Francisco a few months ago. It's a soft case (available in several colors) with a cloth band (with only the slightest elasticity, not much at all). It works like a Quiver double pen holder in that you slide the cover of the notebook between the band and the back of the pen case. I took photos, but I'm in a hurry to take a long bike ride, so I'll post the photos later.

Here's a link in the meantime (did a Google search, have not ordered anything from this website): http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/h...em/ito-ya-040/

There are three sizes. Mine is the smallest which "fits" my Midori Traveller Passport, and by "fits," I mean it is a little loose - secure, but loose. It will hold two, maybe three pens, but there is no fabric between the pens, so they will rub against each other (noted in case avoiding micro scratches is important to you).

Yes, the idea is it slides over the cover of the notebook. I wouldn't want one on the spine itself as that would make it really difficult to write with. But one that could slide on and off of the cover seems like a useable thing. My pens are pretty little, mostly M400 Pelikans and the like. Though I have the occasional larger pen (My Nakaya is quite fat) I doubt those would fit in such a contraption anyway. I didn't even think of Etsy, I wonder if the fellow I bought my Midori cover from would be able to make one. Must go do some searching.

I was searching for a cover for Field Notes and came across this listing that might interest you. I think it's too small for a Midori, but a lot of these places do custom work so they might be able to help you out.

I have the Quiver unit that holds two pens and slides over the cover of a pocket-sized notebook. I've had it for three or more years; my Sheaffer fountain pens go in and out of it thirty or more times each day. Looks like it will last twenty more years.

Different than the one you are looking at but I've been thinking of getting one of these journal Bandoliers for a while now. She makes custom ones as well:

Search for notebook vests. I've sold a few on etsy myself although I don't use one. I still have some in my shop but they are pretty narrow, sized using a pilot G2 as a mold.

This is a really good recommendation. I have been eyeing these for a while, too. I finally purchased one which utilizes recycled rubber. I think she uses old inner tubes from bicycle tires. I personally love that idea. Waiting for it to arrive.

Yes, I've looked at those but I don't want that much pen exposed. Especially since I have lots of pens without clips. I may email and see if she could make something similar but with full slips for the pens to slide down into. I may end up just needing to do it myself I suppose!

The Bandolier! I've seen these for sale at Arch in San Francisco.

Okay, here are three photos of the Color Chart pen case. The last one shows the back (the band) and has different pens as the models.

Oops, let me try that again. Have to read about how to attach photos so that they appear in the thread.

Interesting case. Might work, but would restrict what I carry. I'm kind of persnickety about pens not touching each other. Or at least I'd need a nice soft cloth to roll the pens in before they went in the case, which is likely more trouble than it is worth.

I, too, have ordered these, in the adjustable size. I like larger notebooks, but I vary a little. I ordered a couple of different materials. If I like it, good stuff. If I don't like it (no matter the reason), I'll give them away. I may even give one away if I feel I don't need/want more than one. If that happens, I'll offer up here somewhere.

In the meantime, this sounds kind of like another fascinating and extraordinary Michael challenge for thought:

Hm, ok, I'll think about it - and finance the prototype, if we go forward from there.

Tandaina has a Nakaya, so I'll think about that, too. I have a Nakaya, but suspect my Danitrio Mikado would give a closer max "fat" width than my Neo Standard to work with.

Tandaina, what is the length of the longest pen you want to carry? And, what is the shortest pen you want to carry?

And, what size is your Midori?
