What is the 400NN clicking cap mechanism? Description I read stated: "clicking cap mechanism" designed to stop the cap from coming off in the pocket.
Does it screw / cap with a final click, locking the cap on?
edit: spelling.

Jeph, I've searched and still have not found an unposted side by side shot of a 140 uncapped, unposted next to a pen that I recognized (say a Lamy 2000). I'm trying to see if it's writable unposted. How do you like your 140?
I hear it's the same nib and feed and barrel as the 400.
Pelikan must have had a lot of complaints after the brief five threaded cap period; combined with four on the barrel, it takes only a quarter turn to uncap. Thus this patch job.
Mildly amused me that no FPN experts had noticed this.

Huh. I thought the threads on my 400NN were worn and wobbly so I never fully tightened the cap. After reading this, I turned the cap a little more and I did feel the "click." Turns out it's a nicely designed feature! Who'da thunk it!
I could not use it comfortably unposted. I will do you some pictures after I get home. I did mistake a 140 once for a 400 so they are close but not the same.
The 400 barrel is slightly longer.
It is true that you can use 140 nibs in 400's and vice versa but from memory the 140 nib is smaller. Like the M200 vs M400 nibs. I will verify that when I get home as well. The feed and collars are probably the same.
OK, like Tony said. And I put the pictures here to not derail the post.
My 400NN has the cap clicking mechanism. Cool.
