    Default Pelikan's Wish Nib

Did anyone else notice the reference in Pelikan's recent email, the one about the ink of 2015, to the 'wish nib' being launched on the 15th?

Might the 03b nibs be back, but as a luxury add on?

Or are they about to make their nibs interesting again?

I think this is what you may be referring to? Interesting concept.

Quite smart of them. For only 25 euros, which is within 5-10 euros of what some nibmeisters charge, they can get in on the nib customizing trade, while at the same time getting rid of the unproductive O nibs and BB nibs.

Streamlining and getting a piece of the nib meister action. Well played, Pelikan.

    I want to visit Pelikan!

I mean, cos it's more convenient now than before. Hm... I don't know about the wish nib, but if Pelikan can do something with the standard F (or EF (still too broad regardless)) that came with my Toledo 700 (bought twenty years ago), like add a bit of flex (yeah, I said it! Add some flex, bee-otch!) -- or not, or just make it write as smoooooove and fine as the stiff EF on my Sheaffer Flat Top, then that would be special. At least, I would be able to use the nib with the pen it came with (swap out the steel F nib, ha!).

Well of course I didn't read it.

Now I've read it, and I see that they will not make your nibs (your Pelikan nibs) special. I would have to buy another nib.

So for $210 and a trip to Hannover, Germany (free for me) I can get a 4XF 14K M600 nib with an "S" on it.
For $192 I can get the same thing from Richard Binder less the "S".

If I look at that as $20 for a tour it is not so bad. For all you other peeps, well, I just don't see it.

Too bad I am not 5 people or I could just get a tour.

I think it's a great program if I lived in Germany but I face the $2,000 in airfare to Germany.....means I could likely fly Mr Binder to Toronto or Mr Pendleton and pay their fees for less... for the 45-60 minutes to customize my existing nib. I am thus shut out on a custom made for me nib....oh well maybe they can send a nib expert to the pen shows and I can get one made in the US or Canada.

Well, I broke down and did it. Unfortunately to get both the custom nib and the tour I have to wait until May. That is going to be a loooong wait.
And I will be getting an XXF for my M600. Maybe 3XF. I have some time to make up my mind.

Cool! Can't wait to hear about the experience and see photos of your nib and a writing sample.

What is that charity....the Make a Wish foundation, right? I was sure there was some involvement with that, but apparently not. It does seem like a cool idea...maybe a little less wait time than the most prestigious nibmeisters.
