Default help with mac - safari browser, re: keyboard shortcuts - how to search for text

I know with windows, and IE, Chrome (Firefox?), when you want to search for text, find a word, you can type F3 for the search field, or type control + F. What is the procedure for Safari?

Any keyboard shortcuts would be greatly appreciated. Maybe equivalent to:

    - search
    - copy
    - paste
    - cut
    - etc.

    KrazyIvan, awesome!

I like that it matches what I know, control + F, command + F, etc.

Is there a way to close a tab like in IE? - hover curser over tab, hit center scroll button.

I hit F5 to refresh the current page on IE - I hit F5 on Safari and it seems to reload, but I think it's not updating. Is there a Safari shortcut to refresh current page?
I think I found the answer - right click, reload tab, or close tab. duh.

I notice in Safari, when i want to delete a letter, the delete button works like a "backspace". Is there a delete that works like a delete?

You can also use ⌘-R to refresh/reload and ⌘-W to close.

Do you have a laptop? You might need to press the fn-key and delete together for delete.

Extra tip: if you click on the 'help' menu and use the search field, it'll show you where you can find commands and it'll show the shortcut key (if it exists).

    Hope this helps!

⌘-R, ⌘-W - perfect! i keep forgetting, ignoring the top menu as i'm used to menus in the app. i'm using someone else's macbook pro (very nice btw) and my learning curve is steep, but i'm getting there.

My safari navigation knowledge is increasing by leaps and bounds:

58 useful Keyboard Shortcuts for Safari

eta: i still can't figure out how to navigate between windows, between open applications - which is a breeze using windows.

    Trackpad or mouse?

    Command+tab cycles through open apps.

Four finger upward swipe shows mission control.

Four finger downward swipe shows app expose.

It's a MacBook Pro, with trackpad and using mouse primarily.

The 4 finger method works great. Cannot get command + tab to work.

Definitely check out a little app called CheatSheet. By holding down the Command key for a couple seconds, it pops up a window showing you all the keyboard shortcuts for the app you're currently in. It's awesome.

Command+tab requires you to keep the command pressed down while you press down tab and let it go again. You should get a bar with all open applications, as long as you keep pressing command.

If you get the bar, you can also press arrow up or down to get a selection of the open windows of the selected application (newer OS versions).
