    Default Vintage Kaweco Sport pens

For those interested in the old Kaweco sports, a good starting point is:
    http://www.kaweco-pen.com/img/global...t-historie.pdf
This lists all the old models with pictures and changes along the way.
Another place to look at is:
    http://www.kaweco-pen.com/en/Info/do...ke-werbung.php
For pictures and advertising on the old Kawecos.

To get you going, Here are some 'stolen' pics of some models:

I want one of these old ones. I've been hunting one for a while and am still empty handed but eventually, I'll bag my little purse pen!

I think it's such a shame they don't make piston-filling Sports anymore. I can imagine they would be huge sellers.

On March 19, 2012, Kaweco's President, Mr. Michael Gutberlet alluded to the possibility of the piston filler coming back. This was the interview done by JetPens: http://www.jetpens.com/blog/exclusiv...89657529752121

It did occur to me that Kaweco might choose to celebrate 80 years of the Sport by bringing out a limited edition piston filler during 2014. As Cookies suggests, they'd probably sell like hot cakes.

Beautiful gorgeous works of German craftsmanship, though!

And a while ago(2000) there were 883 of these Visconti/Kaweco piston fillers. See page #26 of the Kaweco history PDF.
The set includes a chubby push button ball point. The other side of the disc says "original Kaweco sport" And as you can tell a rather wet writer.

The trouble with the ball point is that the refills are no longer available so you need to cut down a Schneider or Schmidt refill to get the right length.
The pencils are better and all take 1.2 mm leads like most of the pencils of the time. (Yard o' Led was and still is 1.2 mm.)

Great picture! I love the way you captured the wetness of the ink.

Yowza! It's a beautiful pen and it's nice to see they have the ability to make piston fillers, but $620 is crazy steep!

Hopefully the piston-version Sport will be developed in 3 years or so.
Well that interview was almost two years ago, so hopefully we'll hear so news soon. Although he mentioned that a piston was a better solution to a converter, and since they created a converter I hope they are still working on the piston-filler.

My initial estimate is that the retail price will be at least triple of that now
Classic Sports run about $23/$26 so around $70? Seems a bit pricy for the Sport but I'd definitely buy one.

Here is a 12 G with an OB nib. The old Kaweco and Pelikan obliques of the 50's are not as wide as the modern nibs and give crisp line variation:
    IMGP1657.JPG

    Visconti/Kaweco
The $100 range puts it in line with the comparable price for a new Pelikan, which is not bad. What added to the cost of the posted replica was that it is a set (FP and BP) and came with a case. ... Also, the body is done by Visconti, which pushes up the price
Interesting to know if the dimensions are similar to the old models or are more the size of the modern Sports.

They also made the 12G in gold or steel nib.
Pens are both the same size.

Those gold overlay safety filler pens are rare and are from the 30's, so she will probably get her price.

Once again, what whych said. When the person listing the auction has literally written a book about fountain pens Pens and Pencils A Collector's Handbook by Regina Martini, you can bet that she knows what she is talking about. My copy of the 3rd edition arrived today as a matter of fact. Do not look for her to lower the price. They will sit there until the right buyer appears and then she will sell them.

If you bought the book to find out more about German pens you will be disappointed.
Other than the usual Pelikans ans MB's, there is very little in it on the other German manufacturers like Kaweco, Geha, Faber Castell/Osmia, etc.
