Default Stipula Passaporto FPN LE Edition

I was on FPN today and saw someone used a crayon to make the engraving on their Passaporto stand out and I really liked the way it looked. I tried it on my own just now.

I got mine with the gold hardware, and used that trick with a gold pastel crayon. Turned out very nicely.

I'd like to see a picture of that.

Yep - a crayon is a great way to infill an engraving. Also acrylic paint.

I am assuming you have to be quick to wipe the excess paint off but I guess it should scrape off easily with a fingernail?

No. Those engravings are done with a CO2 laser. This leaves the engraved portion rough and burned, but also depressed. The surface around the engraving is very smooth and polished. So I use a Qtip to apply an acrylic paint, and then wipe off with a paper towel (sometimes lightly wetted). The paint "grabs" the rough surface, and easily wipes away from the polished portion.

Wow! I really like that, I'm scrambling to find a crayon now. The kiddies are all growed up.

Of course, I should have known it. The wifey knows where everything in this house is, including the new box of crayons, LOL. So I took a white crayon to my dark Blue Passaporto FPN L.E. lettering and low and behold it looks just like KrazyIvan's. Now I carry my Passaporto every day in my right front jean pocket, and the white crayon is still on there after almost 3 weeks. This is way too kool! Plus my pen looks really neat. Thanks KrazyIvan!

Nice! It is very cool and I am thinking of hitting some of my Esterbrooks with better engravings with this idea. I think it will look really good on my Bell Systems Estie with the faded lettering.

Love the blue of this one and I like how you have highlighted the writing. I just wish mine had the threads on the body for more secure posting!

I just found out some don't have threads. Seems a bit odd that Stipula would do that.

I find that really odd seeing how important on this particular pen that it is to post it. Perhaps this is one of those quirky Italian things!

I was thinking maybe the threads were an afterthought and some are still out there without the threads?
