Did she have congestive heart failure?

I know you are heartbroken, but just focus on the happy life you were able to give her. There are so many animals out there suffering due to the neglect, exploitation, and indifference of humans. She was one of the lucky ones, to have had a good home, to have been loved. That’s what matters.

It seems she ruptured a heartstring (which I didn't know is a real thing). We were hoping to get her to CHF, which can be managed, at least for a while - what I wouldn't give for a few more months, or even weeks, with my sweet girl.

When we recovered from the death of Ruby, our companion of fifteen years, we started hitting the shelters.

This guy appealed to us, although we've never had a hound-type dog before.

He's a Catahoula Cur, the Louisiana state dog. Some, called Leopard Dogs, have a spotty coat and glass eyes. He has a bit of white in one eye. He's very smart and athletic. Well-behaved in the house. Great watchdog. Copper's the name.

I am so sorry. There will always be that doggy shaped hole in your heart, but I hope you’re starting to feel a little better?

Thanks VertOlive. We missed her so much that we decided we needed a puppy, although like Ben Franklin, she can only be succeeded, never replaced.BC161D4D-32A8-425D-82AD-167B0069EC65.jpeg

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your pups, VertOlive and Empliau. My parents lost their "other daughter" Dottie before Thanksgiving last year, and my heart broke when I heard. Her last days were awful, which especially hurt my heart.

Very loyal and smart as a whip. Quiet in the house, but barks like a madman at strangers: good watchdog.

He's a bit aggro with unfamiliar dogs and fly fishers on the river, so we have to be ready with the leash. Doesn't bite, but barks and growls like doom itself.

One last photo of my beloved friend and devoted companion Manny the Jack Russell Terrier.

His heart disease suddenly worsened three weeks ago, and I had to do what was best for him.

Here on The Isle of Dogs, we are once again at full staff, mostly rescues with varying backgrounds. Here we have tiny Rémy, the “French Chihuahua” in his hand knitted cowl. He was a mere 60% of his normal weight when we got him, and covered with ticks, having been dropped off on the island by whoever had him previously. No collar, no chip, no dental care. He’s a hefty 6 pounds now, tick free, and a great smile!

I assume Rémy didn't knit his own cowl. But, if he did, can he knit me one, too?

A: No you didn't; no, you came here for an argument.
M: An argument isn't just contradiction.
    A: It can be.
M: No it can't. An argument is a connected series of statements intended to establish a proposition.
    A: No it isn't.
M: Yes it is! It's not just contradiction.
A: Look, if I argue with you, I must take up a contrary position.
M: Yes, but that's not just saying 'No it isn't.'
