    Summer sleek coat!

She is turning sable slowly but surely...and has taken a dust bath it looks like, but that face! Who could resist?

    She loves to fetch!

Poor pitiful me, nobody will throw me the ball AGAIN. I know it is nasty, but please pick it up just one more time.

Okay I'm tired now, you can quit. I will bug you again later.

I need to take new photos. My dog is still losing her winter coat. She has lost her winter chubby look though. :-) By August her
coat should not change anymore. The sable is really easy to see in certain lighting.

If I had shared this picture two weeks ago I would have introduced Zoe our latest foster dog from the Northern English Springer Spaniel rescue NESSR for short.

However as of Saturday she has a new home.

    Welcome home Zoe

We take our coffee very seriously around here, appointing only the Most Vigilant Terriers to guard it. See Spanky guard Coffee:

Mycroft, however, is an English Bulldog and does not regard Coffee so highly. See Mycroft sleep through it:

This is Tristan - a 3 year old cattle dog. The pic was snapped 5 minutes away from the shelter after I adopted him a couple of years ago. I guess that makes him five now. He's really smart.

And Poe - not so much - a having teensy bit of trouble figuring out how to work the doggy-bed.

It's not my dog, but I thought the photo is appropriate here for a chuckle. Note the lower jaw, front paws and the rug, probably Baystate Blue.

Woe is Poe! I get it. We have a couple canine geniuses around the place, but one lovable little Puddin' Jack, Spanky, just has a small pea rattling around in her skull.

You befriend a dog, take him in, give him your heart. Your love for him completes you. And he daily tries to off himself. Sheesh!

All your dogs are cute, but Cookie takes my heart. My parents have a beagle mix named Dottie, and she's my third sister.

    Thank you, Lady Onogaro.

    They are all sweets.
Ralf died, but I wanted him to stay here, too. He was full of tenderness, and had a difficult story - I was his third owner:he was 2, when I got him. He was scared of the dark. He was a baby in a big body (actually, these dogs are adults by the age of 5, more or less). Both previous owners had him attached to a 2 meter chain, and never walked with him. It is because he barked all night long (which is normal, because of his fear), and that the neighbors complaines, that the last owner accepted to give him to me. He slept in the living room, and was happy.

Volga is very special, and sweet. She was 6 months old when she arrived here. She is very intelligent, and understands all.

Cookie is sweet, but tends to run away, wich worries me immensly, untl she comes back home. No fence resists her - maybe the prison ones!! LOL
I recovered her when she was 2 years old - her owner, a borderline personality, didn't do her education: she did her needs in the house, had a 10kg bag of food at her disposal and ate all the time, and wondered around his town freely. She was mistreated by him, when he was down.
She is now 6 years old, and her education is fine, she is closer and closer to me. One year ago she started to have tender gestures towards us. A victory! It takes time, but we do at her own pace.

Our newest staff member. This tiny one (12 pounds) rolled in off the frozen Texas plains with the sagebrush. Our parish priest found him wandering the church parking lot and brought him to the town shelter. He has one eye and a bum knee and we call him "Lucky Jack". Here he is keeping watch for visitors to the funeral home.
