We adopted a cat just after Christmas called Holly. She was dumped at the vets prior to Christmas (hence the name). What we didn't know at the time of adoption (nor did the vets) was that she came with two more packages which are are now three weeks old. (When she arrived at the vets they did check her, but they were not sure if she had been desexed as the ultrasound was inconclusive and Holly would have only been about a week pregnant at the time. We adopted her two weeks after she was dumped at the vets. We suspect she was dumped because the previous "owner" saw Holly being, well, umm..... "serviced", and didn't want to deal with kittens.)

What a special adoption, Hark40. Holly looks like a wonderful addition to your home. Even if you don't keep her kittens, I suspect you will find them good homes, as well.

We are in two minds about the kittens. Besides Holly, we have Eve (photo below) which was also an adoption from the vets. She was dumped at Christmas Eve, at the vets, along with her kittens a couple of years ago. Once old enough, the kittens were rehomed very quickly, but no one was interested in Eve which the vets think she was about 6mths old at that time. We lost our 18yr old cat in January 2012, and we adopted Eve in March 2012. If we keep the two kittens, we end up with four cats. Our daughter also wants to get her own cat, a Maine Coon, and we said she could late last year, which then brings it up to five cats. Our local council has a law that you have to apply for a licence if you want to keep 4 or more cats. Of course, that entails an application process (with a fee) as well as an ongoing annual fee. We are investigating that process at the moment. (Things get a little difficult due to dogs and other pets that the family has, so three cats which was our original plan is fine, but five cats is unfortunately pushing things, but we will see what we can do. It is not going to be easy to give the kittens up.)

The vets have indicated that they will rehome the kittens if we don't want to keep them. They do check out any potential owners in such situations and one of the nurses has already put their hand up for one of the kittens if we decide to give them up, so we know that if we can't keep them (for whatever reason), they will be going to good homes. (Holly was very popular at the vets with the staff.)

Time to revive an old thread: here are "The Boys", Dewey and Ranger. Rescue kittens that we brought home from Kauai just a year ago; this photo was taken when they were about 11 months old. When we got them they were just 8 weeks and both fit in one carrier under the airline seat. Someone had told us "if you can get a pair, do it, because if they don't get along with your (one) cat, they'll always have each other". Boy, do they ever!

Niki Lauda. Named such because, after watching the film "Rush", I wanted to name a cat Niki Lauda and place a Ferrari logo on its shit box. And so it's been done.

It costs $75 each time I have the screen replaced in those sliding doors, and the only source of damage is in this photo: Mr. Smudge.

Willow, also known by many other names. She's as sweet as she looks...
    She's also a goof.

Pippi. Retrieved from a shelter as a kitten, now several years later has the run of the farm. Literally landed on her feet

Dewey loves to sleep between my legs. He also makes it clear when he has no interest in starting the day:
