    Default Danitrio Genkai

Well, Lisa, I guess this is a good place to start!

Although Nakaya was (and still is) the main rage of these times, I dove into the deep end of the pool for Danitrio. I would have a hundred of them if I could afford them. As it is, I do have some very nice pieces.

It's about time I got all my Danitrio pens photographed and recorded for purposes other than just writing - insurance, inheritance (if they're lucky), etc. I've been wanting to do this for some time, but life got in the way. Now I need to get in the way and do some things I want to do. New hosting service, fairly new (though very inexpensive) camera, and a prayer or two for a decent photo now and then.

Meh, had the shaky hands today, but went with it anyway.

This is my Danitrio Genkai. It is one of the last Danitrio pens I purchased a couple of years ago. It is by far the biggest pen I will ever own, and I do use it now and again. It is a safety eyedropper, and I swear it holds half a bottle of ink, running out in a single session is not likely. It has a soft medium nib.

    Danitrio Genkai

Sorry, my macro nib shots leave much to be desired, I'm afraid. I don't have a tripod and even the auto feature couldn't help me with this one, but here it is anyway

And a couple of quick size comparison shots, lined up with my smallest pens, the Edison Nouveau Encore, Pilot Metropolitan/MR, and Pilot Stargazer

Yes, the Genkai is huge. But, it really is very nice to write with, and the reason I got it is, well, yes, it is a Danitrio and I'm obsessed, but the pen is also very well balanced and is very easy for me to grasp with my arthritic fingers. Being as large as it is, it feels uncomfortable to have too much of my usual death grip, so it really helps out on ugly cold days.

My pen is 6-3/4 inches long capped, and 6 inches long uncapped. The cap is 3/4 of an inch in diameter, the bottom of the barrel is 5/8 of an inch in diameter. Of course, it cannot be posted. I wouldn't want to, anyway. It is a great writer and balanced well.

I would never take this pen to a workplace or convention or travel, it is just for personal correspondence and writing. Well, if I was near the Pen Posse, that might be another story, as I would love to see Ricky's and Lisa's and everyone else's Nakaya and Danitrio pens in person!

What a beautiful pen. I am partial to that color combination in writing instruments.

Thank you, Tiffany. I thought it was very nice and understated, not the typical bold of modern urushi.

    That is fabulous, Kimy!

I think that is the size of Ricky's custom (oamakase) Shindo pens. He posted about it on fpn not quite two years ago: Danitrio Omakase. I had to ask Google, cos I couldn't remember which stereo company it was (Shindo).

I have only two Danitrios - the Fellowship and the Komori - and my Nakayas are the standard tamenuris (except for the matte black and solid black Piccolos). Ricky has the rainbow of Neo Standards, which is gorgeous.

I can't wait to see the rest of your Danitrios. I recall that you and Jose have a few custom maki-e pens made, and they were gorgeous, but I'm sure I haven't seen all of yours.

Oh boy, something to look forward to!

Thanks for the link, Lisa! I had not seen those pens, yet! They were really well done by Kosetsu.

My Ladybird and Larkspur pens were created by Masanori Omote. I am going to get better photos of my own, but here was my original thread for them.

What a lovely pen! I've never seen a Danitrio in that color before. Thank you for sharing. I'm looking forward to seeing photos of your other Danitrios.

Thank you, Reprieve. The color was one of the draw points for me, very simple statement. It was done very well.

Beautiful unusual color! Genkai fascinated me since I saw it for the first time. My Genkai is now on the way. It's a Bengala tame-nuri with a M nib customized to FM Stub. It will be my second Danitrio.
