    Default How they made nibs

I did a little trawling in the LOC and found this, which describes in some detail how they made gold nibs back in the day.

There is an interesting mention of actual diamonds having been used at some point, but it does not say which brand did this or give any specifics - just that iridium had made the practice obsolete.

Interesting reading and, if you have about a million more tools and skills than I do, possibly information you could use to make your own nibs...

(It also goes into how to make the pen part itself, from hard rubber, for those interested in that.)
