    Hi,

I have an Eagle Pencil co New York Pen. Any idea how old and if rare please? The clip cap screw is a bit brittle where cap top screws to cap. Is it casein or rubber?

    Best wishes,

    Adrian.

Eagle was a pretty prolific 2nd/3rd tier pen maker (I have a very nice flex nib/pen of theirs from I believe 30s.) I couldn't speak for the rarity of this particular model but I'd guess not terribly rare just based on it being an Eagle.

The nib looks to be 14k though so that's nice. I'm not a material expert but it *looks* to me like very faded "Black Hard Rubber." Very faded. Hope someone else can give more specifics. And I'd guess 20s or 30s for its age.

Unlikely to be casein. I don't know what that white stuff is but that's not how casein goes when it begins to fail.
