Default A long, long overdue registration

Hello all, I'm almost embarrassed at how long it has taken me to register here ... between my blog and the books I've been writing lately, I haven't had much time to participate in online forums.

Although mechanical pencils are my main thing, some of my best friends are pen collectors. Besides, my interest in patents has me frequently "crossing over" to the pen side of things, and a lot of the things that turn up while I'm researching things for the blog are of interest to pen collectors as well as us humble pencil folk.

Once I get my latest project finished - Volume 2 of the patent book project, covering patents from 1911 to 1945 - I'll be more involved. For now, just thought I'd pop in and say hi.

Welcome, welcome. Do you mainly write NF books? Curiousity has me wondering, do you write longhand or on comouter/laptop or sililar device?

    Welcome aboard.
Hope the conversations here don't distract you from completing Vol. 2.

Your first book of patents is an invaluable reference; great organization and very easy to use.

Hi there. So far, all my books have been related to our hobby here. The Catalogue of American Mechanical Pencils (2011), American Writing Instrument Patents 1799-1910 (2013) and American Mechanical Pencils (according to Schiffer - estimated release in October).

Right now I'm finishing American Writing Instrument Patents Volume 2: 1911-1945. I'd hoped to have it ready for Chicago next week, but obviously that isn't going to happen. Probably by Raleigh, definitely by DC I should think.

My first three books were all written on my trusty Toshiba laptop. For the current project, I've switched to my home desktop for the dual monitors (a must for flipping between spreadsheets, patent images and the word processor). Now that the weather is getting nicer, I plan to spend my time sitting out on the gazebo with the draft on the laptop.

To the contrary - my brain is getting numb from working on it, so breaks spent here are a much-needed respite!

Glad you're enjoying the first installment of the patent book project. I appreciate the feedback-

I have just read Richard Binder's excellent review of one of your books for the current issue of Penworld. It made for very interesting reading. Best of luck in finishing vol 2 and welcome to the site.

Welcome. Anxious to hear insights from such an expert, especially when you turn your attention to pen patents specifically.

Thanks all - yes, the Pen World review was nice one. I look forward to helping any way I can -- whenever book projects, day job and the family don't get in the way.

While I'm not a refugee from any of the other boards, I haven't found one that I've been as comfortable with as this one.
