Here is another Tuscan church, this one is in Florence. San Miniato al Monte is a Romanesque style church which was started in the 11th century. It was added on to successively into the Renaissance. It has an interesting plan and is a full monastery (still in function as such today). I can say this is probably my favorite church in Florence, and maybe Italy. Side note: It was named after San Miniato, a hermit who was sentenced to decapitation. Once decapitated supposedly San Miniato picked his head up and carried it across the Arno river to the site of the church now, which is on top of a large hill outside of the city walls.
