It looks very nice, but I personally prefer a box with a lid.
Personally I would also appreciate a lid.
I also dislike the restriction to Herbin Anniversary inks (though maybe Diamine bottles would fit).

Very nice, but like the others, I'd prefer a lid. Also, the restriction on which ink bottles would fit turns me off.
I'm a little late here - I think this is a case of two different things. I store my pens in boxes with lids. However, I tend to have more than one out on my desk at home, and if my desk were big enough, I would go for something more like the second one - Room enough for more than one bottle of ink of any shape, plus a pen wiper or what have you, and the pens of the day.
I have not worked in an office in ages and ages but unless I had a door that locked and I kept it locked I would not keep anything nicer than a Bic Stick out on the desk. For home, though, I think this would work on a nice big desk.
I have a cat, so that would be contraindicated. Box with drawers/lid only on my desk or pens become toys and get lost for months under furniture. (Yes it happened, no it wasn't cheap, fortunately it was eventually found safe after I tore the whole house apart.)

Current pen rotation: way too many!
Another on the cheap wooden desk pen stand is to find a test tube rack. There are many different varieties and I have a double 7 row (14 pens) on my desk for about $10 from Amazon.

Nice but like others I would prefer a lid.
