Default Road trip to Florida from New York. Any pen shops worth a pit stop along the way?

Next week I'll be taking a vacation down to Florida. I'm driving down starting from New York. I'm off for two weeks so I will be taking my time stopping along the way. I wanted to know if there are any awesome pen shops I should definitely visit on the East Coast. I usually visit art supply shops (for other hobbies) but none ever carry fountain pens. I know there are a lot of nice mom & pop shops in Savannah, Georgia. I'll do some research as well, but could use some help if anyone has any good info for me. Thank you for your advice and information in advance, really FPGEEKS has turned into a great fountain (no pun intended) of knowledge. Cheers.

You'll be stuck getting around Washington anyway, so:

    - Bertram's Inkwell...I think they're in Rockville or Gaithersburg.
    - Farhney's, in downtown DC.

You could stop at a hotel around Gaithersburg / Rockville. Drive to Bertrams. Then take the Metro downtown to Fahrney's.

Sounds like you'll be taking I-95 the whole way, so this is going to be a bit of a detour. But try Office Supplies & More in Chapel Hill. They don't sell anything vintage, but there's a good selection of current brands of pens, paper and inks. They've been good to the local fountain pen community, and the proprietor is easy to chat up about fountain pen-related things. And then since you'll be hungry, while you're in the area -- assuming you eat pork -- visit The Pig or Allen & Son for some proper barbeque.

He didn't say he was coming to Texas so how will he try proper barbecue.

You did not say where in NY you are traveling from. If you have not been to Fountain Pen Hospital you need to.

I'm in Queens. Yeah I've been to the Fountain Pen hospital. It's definitely overwhelming, but very nice. Thank you all for the suggestions. I definitely eat pork and I definitely love delicious BBQ.

There are lots of places that do, Look up Texas pulled pork, but doesnt make it real bbq lol JK I just dont like the vinegar sauce, but hey I dont eat sauce on my BBQ anyhow. BBQ is a style of cooking not slopping every thing with sauce. I have been known to BBQ a whole hog in a pit from time to time.

Thank you! We'll be making a pit stop in NC anyway! So I'll try to check it out.

    Two questions:

    1) Are you going through the Atlanta area? There is a great shop there.

    2) Are you a member of the Big Apple Pen Club? I don't recognize your name.

I might go to Atlanta on my way back up, I don't have a set itinerary really. So please let me know about the shop. No, I am not a member of the Big Apple Pen Club. I'll do a little research on it.

Yep a few times. A few while I was stationed in NC for my team and then a couple in Texas.
