Surf's a washout with nothing better forecast. Heading back to the hills. People here still chasing there tails by the looks on it. Sad that there persists this belief that everyone has to speak or write in the stereotype of there birthplace, not taking into account the experiences and influences that people have in life. Could be part of the unique American stereotype I reckon.

Someone upstream asked about parts for Staedtler pencils, specifically the inside metal tube. I've not seen parts like that sold, though it may be found through businesses that manufacture metal capillary tubes, if they have the right inner and outer dimensions. Could be cut to length.

Looks like you've a small number of rotten apples in the barrel. Not my problem. I'm new here and only for the pencils.

Your game is fooling no one EoC.
If you don't want to get called out about it why don't you just stick to pencils and stop the snarky editorial comments?

I admit that learning about Autopoint Pencils to have been enjoyable. Hope you enjoy your time here, @monsoon.

Trying to enjoy, not easy with the conspiracy nuts about.

Always liked the Skilcraft double ended pencil. The older versions were better as the clip was sturdier. The newer ones not so much. Looks like Autopoint had a very similar model. Who copied who?

    Conspiracy? What conspiracy?
It's not a conspiracy when you shine a light on the truth.

Regardless of what screen name EoC uses, he always sees himself as a victim!

Juvenile comment. Not unexpected given what I was recently told in an email: FPGeeks is not a friendly place for new members.

One of the advantages of using pencils is not being beholden to the paper makers. Pencils write on most all kinds of paper. Even Moleskine notebooks that I hear are not good for wet inks work fine for pencils, and the Moleskine format is handy as an everyday carry. Small robust and discreet.

Collecting mechanical pencils might be too strong a term, but I do have a number of them, mainly two brands, Staedtler and Faber-Castell. They are my primary writing implement.

The FCs are 30 years old. One, a 0.5mm and the the rest are 0.7mm.

    The 40 year old Staedtler are, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7 and 0.9mm.

The most recent and my favorite are the Staedtler Mars 780C, 2mm lead holders.

Occasionally I look through PicClick for vintage pencils. I'd like to get a set of Koh-I-Noor drafting pencils.

I have a collection of lead pointers for 2mm drafting pencils. They are various models of Koh-I-Noor pointers, some with clamps, others with steel bases from the 1950s, through to the 1980s.

2B or not 2B? That is the question.

It depends on the lead size. I mostly use a 0.7mm mechanical pencil. For all round writing with some resilience, the HB leads seem to work best.

Go too soft into the Bs and they wear down quickly and break easily. I'd only use those on 0.9mm pencils.

The Hs can (if you are left handed like me), dig into the page, because left handed writers push, rather than drag the pencil when writing.

Not exactly the type of thing a "new member" would say to try and endear himself / herself.
After all, most new members would want the existing members to accept & welcome them as the Moon they profess to be and forget about the Clouds they used to be.
Bu no, not you, as usual you feel compelled to act like you're Uranus.

You dont read too good do you son. At my age I dont have the childish need to endear myself to anyone. Left that behind a long time ago. People take me as I am warts and all. If you want to play kissy kissy thats your choice.

To the other message, wondered about brittleness as I reckoned a harder value lead would be more prone to shock damage. Like if the pencil was dropped it would shatter the lead.

I'm not the one who whined that "FPGeeks is not a friendly place for new members" EoC, it was you.

For some one who's got a hankering to talk about pencils, you sure are easily distracted pard-na.
Either stick to pencils or just mosey along.

Yeah you would like to get a free pass for your stupid behavior but that ship has set sail already. Told you at the start that I push back on horseshit. Perhaps you should stop shoveling it son.

So either clean up your act or mosey along.
