Some special pencils including one seems to look like a carpenter's pencil with a pencil holder.
and a pencil to hold three different leads in colour and a very interesting smart mechanism in a small pencil to function without trouble.
It is the third pencil on top just before the Black pencil ( which is again a sliding ring to advance the lead )

I just bought another Pencil and this time it a Mabie Todds
This has been an wonderfully educational thread. I knew that there were vast numbers of pencils that matched fountain pens, and others that I guess could be called standalone, but seeing so many of them all at once, and almost all of them so gorgeous, it almost makes me want to start spending compulsively on them, now that I've finally managed to at least slightly rein in my fountain pen (and dip pen, and nibs, and ink, and paper, and washi tape, and vintage postcards, and...) acquisitiveness. Sigh.
Anyway, most of my mechanical pencils are pretty fine-line modern plastic ones, usually Pilot or Pentel, and strictly utilitarian. For drawing I use wooden artists pencils, usually Staedtler. However, I do have one cool vintage-ish mechanical pencil that was a free gift from Teri at Peyton Street Pens when I bought a fountain pen from her. Photo below. It was NOS when I got it, but it has seen a LOT of use since.

Calamus, that pencil deserves to be appreciated, and used!
I use it every day. More than once. And I love it. Once I misplaced it for the better part of a day, and I was a frantic until I found it. Funny how inanimate objects can do that to you.

I don't collect mechanical pencils, but I do have a number of them as part of bulk acquisitions of fountain pens.
These two are interesting, both sterling silver. The small one is ... well, very small, but fully functional, and the patterns on the body is very detailed and cool.
The long one, is actually a lot longer. If you pull on the "ring" right before the pencil nozzle, the pencil will extend up to a foot long. And the side that has ruler marks does indicate pretty accurately up to 12 inches.
I am drawn to mechanical pencils for a wide range of designs, from sleek and minimalist to ornate and decorative. Moreover, I think Mechanical pencils can have various unique features that appeal to collectors. This can include specialized mechanisms, interesting lead advancement systems, retractable tips, grip designs, or even built-in erasers or sharpeners

SPAMMERS ARE S**TING ALL OVER IN THE SITE FOLKS !!!
Since FPGeeks is mostly about fountain pens and a little about other pens, the mechanical pencil doesn't get much love here. This topic was started 10 years ago and has only 18 pages! I first posted in it back in 2016. Anyway, there's a site that opened up last year that's dedicated to mechanical pencils, called Knockology. Worth a visit.
