Default B&B 2012 LE Edison Herald Grande #42

After much suspense I received my first Edison pen today. I love the broad nib. It is really smooth. My only other pen with a Miester Nibs F on my "El Grande" pen made by drgoretex of the FPN. First fill is Iroshizuku Ku-Jaku from a sample vile I was saving just for this pen. My first reaction was, "This pen is huge!" Works well with my hand but no posting.

WoooHooo, It finally arrived, congratulations KI.
Wonderful patterning in the acrylic. The Edison pen logo on the nib is a real eye-catcher.
The nib looks large too so it is very appropriate that it is a B.

Did yopu rub a bid of crayon into the stamp on the barrel ?

And as usual fantasticly detailed photos.

Thanks Bogon. The pen is actually ebonite (hard rubber). The nib is a #6 which looks a lot bigger in person. No Crayon rubbing. That is from the Edison shop. I think Brian says it is acrylic paint.

    Oh Ebonite, sorry Mr Edison.

"Iroshizuku Ku-Jaku from an (evil) sample vile !" It will be if you get hooked on Iroshizuku inks, how does that Peacock colour look ?
I'm almost tempted to try Syo-Ro just because of the name and it is similar in the swab to Air-Corp blue black.

Congrats, Ivan! That's a really nice 'dark side' pen! That's the second one that is drawing me to ebonite in a very short while! I should really give up these forums.

    Enjoy it!!

    Cheers,
    Peter

Whooee! What an awesome pen that is! And again it shows that ebonite is the perfect pen material. I am going to start saving for my first Edison pen right now. If only duty on pen imports wasn't such a pain in the UK...

Beautiful Pen, Ivan. You should really enjoy it. My first Edison was the Herald which I love, but when I need something less gigantic I have the Pearlette and for mid-range the Edison-Nouveau Encore. This may be a sub category of the madness.

Thinking about getting some Diamine indigo for this pen....

The pen barely fits it my pen 12 pen case... calling it huge is an understatement, and yet it feels comfortable.

Yes, vile, as in the dark side and not the little plastic ink vials.

Wow, right next to mine. I ordered the broad with the intention of grinding it to a stub.

Thank you. You will find ebonite a nice material. This is my second ebonite pen. Just be forwarned it is a material you want to be a little more careful with. No prolonged sunlight (UV sources) or it will fade and do not use hot water with it because it can cause a color change in the material. I think those are the only things to be aware of. Some say ebonite smells funny but I have not noticed it. It is supposed to be a sulfer like smell.

I wanted this material in a pen since Brian Goulet did one with Brian Gray last year. I had just spent my bank on other things and really lamented not getting that pen. When this one popped up and in the same material, I was lucky I had the money ready this time around.

Gigantic is right. I was having doubts it was going to fit in my 12 pen case.

See above on the pen case. Yes. My old "El Grande" pen looks dinky next to this one. I will not be using it posted.

That really is a lovely pen. The blue black ebonite is stunning. Love the shape as well, very retro looking I feel.
