Default S.T. Dupont Gives Up on Chinese Lacquer?

I was at World Lux in Seattle yesterday and the sales clerk there (Todd) indicated that S.T. Dupont was producing the new Elysee pen without Chinese lacquer. The Orpheo, was to be the last S.T. Dupont model produced in Chinese lacquer. Can anyone comment on why S.T. Dupont would want to move away from lacquer?
