Tiffany if it is ok with you I will use round pieces for the studs I cannot get the nib ones to work and as we have a round case with a round detail on the top it will look ok.
Would you like the button in a different colour? Yellow ? Or stick with oxblood.
Someone on fpn has done some drawings of a wrap with kydex tubes to do a similar job as your quiver it s spooky as it is just like the one we discussed.
It has really made my day that someone has been inspired by my work to think about a project as this was my intention from the outset.

I am pleased that you like the case so far it looks just as I saw it in my head, I am proud to say that I made it.

    Thanks

    Michael

Round pieces for the studs is fine.

As far as the color of the button, my first reaction is to say oxblood, but I could be convinced to say yellow if you felt strongly that it would be best.

You are right! That is kind of spooky. I'll have to go look for the thread on FPN. It would be interesting to watch it take shape.

Ok round it is here are some I prepared this afternoon the idea here is the stud is fixed to the disc and the disc is then attached to the case it should keep the strap away from the case and prevent rubbing.

    IMG_8189 by my0771, on Flickr

Each stud will be thread locked in place so hope fully wont come loose, once dyed they are ready to be fitted, I wont fit them until the straps are fitted to the lid which is my next job

    Thanks

I have finished dying the pieces just need to wait for everything to dry if you are wondering what the thread is for, this dye is designed to dye skin any skin and it takes ages to wear off

    IMG_8192_1 by my0771, on Flickr

when I dyed the outer cover I also dyed another piece of leather which I will be using for the straps.

    Thanks for looking

I have now finished the mounting discs for the studs of course I have run out I had another pack but that had also been opened I had six in one pack and seven in the other but the are slightly different so I will fix them in place once I have another pack.

    IMG_8209_1 by my0771, on Flickr

All of the remaining work involves sewing through multiple layers which is very difficult so I will do a section as I can.

I will of course continue to post updates here.

    Thanks

    Michael

A quick update I have completed another ring of stitches around the top of the lower section this has an extra piece of leather inside to support the upper section so there is almost 10 mm of leather.
I have also worked out the position of the straps so I can sew them to the lid which will then allow me to position the studs and once they are in place I can sew the bottom in place and the case will be finished.
I made some little (well almost little) leather thimbles to protect my fingers they have worked a treat I have sewed most of the evening between coats of dye and my fingers are intact.
Pictures will follow when it is light.

I just have to keep coming back to look at these photos. This is going to be a beautiful case. I have ordered the silk to make the inner pen wrap. One piece is coming from Germany and the other from Australia.

I have been working away on the boring bits like edge finishing and hole punching I have also been working out the location of the straps in this picture I have it just about right

    IMG_8332_1 by my0771, on Flickr

I will put a small amount of glue on each one and leave it over night to dry if I am happy tomorrow I will sew them in place then I can position the studs.

Just a quick update I now have two straps sewn in position and two to go.
I don't like unfinished leather on show so I have lined all of the bare pieces of strap with the small pieces of suede that were left over from the main body.

What you can see are the stitching grooves and the holes made ready for the thread
Here is a really bad picture of the first strap sewn in place.

I have finished the stitching of the straps

The following pictures should show exactly how this case is going to work each strap will have two sets of holes one for studs in the top section and one for the bottom section

    IMG_8339 by my0771, on Flickr

The studs in the top section will be in the centre, the studs for the bottom section could be placed so they are in the middle of the nib portion of the end

    IMG_8337 by my0771, on Flickr

This is the top of the lower section

    IMG_8342 by my0771, on Flickr

    IMG_8338 by my0771, on Flickr

This case is really starting to come together now it will be finished soon.

I am now starting to think about how to ship it safely to the U S A it is not fragile by any means but I have no plans to make another so it will need to be well packed.

You are welcome It is not finished yet !

Tracy Lee I feel I should point out the T is not for Tracy (sorry).

The first four studs are glued in place it is taking a long time to sew them as the leather and suede is now over 10 mm thick it is very difficult to get the needle through.
