I passed on it just for you. I meant to send you a PM about it but I forgot because I am a slacker.

Have you tried some WD 40 or plain 3-in-1 oil on it? You've nothing to loose.

That looks close to my go-to which was Kroil. I have also used CorrosionX Aviation when I have extra money laying around but it is no more effective than the Kroil for cleaning and costs between 6 and 10 times as much. Here in Europe it is even more expensive when you can get it at all. (I had the CorrosionX Aviation for the car where it is more persistent than the Kroil.) Sadly I am out of both containers that I managed to smuggle into the country so now I need an alternative to the crap penetrating oil that I am currently forced to use. I am going to give this a try myself. Thanks for the tip!

Prompt delivery was promised for my Ballistol; I'll let you know how it goes.

I have on my fleabay list of sellers I watch a gentleman that goes by the moniker of curiandeu. He has
at the moment 5 Big Ben pens and 2 sets of the same on his fleabay auction site. He is based in Germany.
You might give him a try.

Maybe I'm missing something here. I thought you were looking for someone who either had
the parts you were looking for or could give you some help in how to replace the broken parts.

Well a scrap pen at a low price with a working mechanism would be a prize indeed; I am not looking for an nice working example - and remember that the pen I have with the hopeless mechanism, does not belong to me!

    Perhaps I have missed something?

I remember when I worked in the motor vehicle fleet department at the Head Office of a popular insurance company that the 'in' joke at that time was that we never 'speke' about the Triumph Snags that were made in well.... Speke

I wish I could offer some gem or other about the very poorly pen. I don't suppose there is any chance that a German piston might fit, say from a Montblanc or a Pelikan.

I just noticed that we both live in the same County. What a co-incidence.

Just thought you might ask him if he has any spare parts that you could
buy,or if he knows someone that does.

"Never Speke" very good! I remember that era - Speke was a nightmare plant with lots of faux "Red Robbos" stirring things up. No wonder they made such terrible cars - the TR7 was stinker too.

Reassuring to know that there are pens in Berkshire other than those currently in front of me! As for Big Ben, I suspect he'll be an exhibit rather than a pen, unless the customer sells it to me very cheap in which case it might become a rather pretty eye-dropper!

    Best wishes

Let us know how it turns out--I've looked at Big Ben pens and thought they might be interesting writers.

    Hullo again.

I contacted Curiandeu; sadly he has no spares for sale.

Meanwhile I have tried the Ballistol, which is an excellent product quite obviously, but sadly the mechanism is too far gone and remains seized solid.
